Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Does anyone know for premium plus that the handles open out automatically or manual? I heard UK cars only came with manual handles.

    Do you remember what the interior plastics were like, all hard or a combination of hard and soft?

    As far as I could see after being in an Executive Plus earlier and an Executive when almost dark, the two are the same with the plastics. (Seats are different material). There is a combination of hard and soft plastic, entirely hard on back doors. Quality doesn't feel great if you go tapping, but most of dash feels fair quality as do other touch points. Centre console (Doesn't slide on Executive, but does on Executive Plus) is entirely hard plastic except for the armrest. But all look ok. The basic one is not very premium, but perfectly acceptable for it's price point as an EV, IMO.

    Cheers for the pics, I presume the gray seats are standard in the Executive? (Wouldn't be a massive fan, personally think the white looks much nicer)

    What was the standard colour for the Ioniq? How much extra was it for the white?

    There were only 3 colours available to us when we ordered, white, black and galactic grey. White was the cheapest, can't remember how much. There is also a "free" colour, a flat olive I think but not sure if that is being imported..

    Only black/grey seats afaik on the executive/executive plus. Yes I also prefer the light colour seats, look great. On the executive plus you get light door cards on the darker exterior colours, not sure with the executive..

    The dimples on the exec plus seats are purely there as you have heated front seats and the dimples allow the heat to pass through material easier. So it's part and parcel if you want that luxury.

    Ill say again that I can't believe Hyundai haven't configured an option with the black outside trim and full leather interior, like so many other countries seem to have done based on vid reviews. .

    The Premium I test drove had the fully automatic handles so have to assume they'll be on the Premium Plus. The dealer spec sheet and the Hyundai website both list them as included on the Premium Plus.

    Thanks for posting all the pics, I'm getting mine from Bolands also but I'm not sure if I will get to see it before Christmas .

    The spec sheet for the Executive says it has heated seats, were you able to check if this is accurate?

    I am pretty sure it has heated front seats and steering wheel. A lot of the bits weren't operational yesterday on ours as the car was left in garage mode outside. For example the wireless phone charger, but was told was there. I think I noticed the seat heaters when scrolling through screens, but didn't take any pics of car powered up. Would be surprised and disappointed if the spec sheet was not accurate..

    Have had a Premium Plus in matte Shooting Star Grey on order since October. Got the VIN # in November. Was first told it would be landed on 14 December, then 19 December. No sign of the car this morning and am told another shipment due around 27- 29 December. Dealer has had a delivery of the lower spec models yesterday but is getting no info on mine.

    Premium Plus has the roof :)


    Dealer took the pictures and sent them to me. I'm going to try and have a look on 30th before Jan collection.

    Not so sure about that, next ship looks like mid January. Not so confident myself also premium plus was told it was in cork waiting to come off the ship. But the ship left 3 days ago :D

    As I won't be able to go see it beore taking delivery I asked Brian to send some pics of my car and to check the heating question. He just confirmed that the heated seats and steering wheel are included.

    Brian in Bolands, Waterford, is an absolute top guy by the way, I'm not from the area but totally worth the extra effort. Hated dealing with Kearys in Cork.

    I am sure many dealerships have run out of space for storage (As ours has). So could well be many cars off site atm.

    Ours was very happy when they asked if we could wait till second week in new year, actually suits us better. Getting cars ready and handover to new customers, (especially if their first EV) is time consuming. Many garages have staff out atm due to close contacts or whatever.

    Same for me, I went to Kearys in August and asked for a trade in price for my old ioniq and they told me to call back in October.

    Went to Bolands a few days later and they gave me a quote in 10 minutes, I did the deal there and then.

    Dealer was certain re the next shipment. Back in November when we got the VIN it was showing as shipped. The dealer is closed from tonight until Jan 4 so it maybe in storage in Cork.

    Does anyone have any tips on what to expect on collection date? Anything to look out for or have prepared?

    Payment side I have all sorted and will sort insurance the morning of (as i'm waiting on car reg). Have bluelink app installed and signed up.

    First EV, Any other advise welcome.

    Download the ecars app and set up an account even if you think you won't need it, you can set up a pay as you go account if you think your usage will be low.

    Make sure to order the rfid card as some chargers can be disconnected from the network and the app won't work.

    I assume you have a home chargepoint installed?

    I'm not sure if Hyundai are doing discounted membership of Ionity, I will check when I get my car

    Spoke with Eddie Guyett of Hyundai a couple of weeks ago re the Charge My Hyundai card which operates throughout Europe and offers access to a wide range of chargers, many at a discount and includes Ionity. He is in charge of deals Hyundai Ireland is doing with charging companies and also with Energia re the chargers. The card is due to be launched around March subject to some legal details being finalised.

    I got onto Hyundai Ireland about this and had a phone call with a guy who essentially said there is no ionity tie in at present. Something is in the works but will be for new deliveries only and won't be retrospective.

    I would suggest that as Eddie Guyett is in charge of the operation, he would know the situation. The card is available elsewhere to anyone. There is an annual fee and it is normally given free for a period to new owners, the period depends on the country - in the UK it is two years. As to retrospective free distribution to current owners at the time of the Irish launch, this is yet to be decided.

    Here's hoping they do something for existing Hyundai EV owners, the non-discounted Ionity fees are pretty steep. Charging from 20%-80% would cost over €32 😮

    Which app is the “e-cards app” is it the Ecar Connect App from ESB?

    Taking delivery of an Ioniq5 about 3 months earlier than originally anticipated so have to get up to speed very quickly!

    Yes, ecars connect, that's it. Set up your account now and request the access card. It's not required but handier than using your phone.

    You are mixing things up. The Charge My Hyundai card has an annual small fee. The card is used to access most chargers, whoever the operator is, across Europe. Most offer substantial discounts. Hyundai is part owner of Ionity and offers around 2/3rds discounts at Ionity chargers in the UK to card holders. As I said before, whatever the arrangements for free membership once the card launches here, all Hyundai owners can get one.

    This is how it works in the UK:

    The base package is the Flex package. There is a one off activation fee of £1.99 There are no monthly base fees and the contract is indefinite. There is a session fee of £0.49 on any charger. Cost per kW/h depend on the charger company but most offer discounts.

    Hyundai IONIQ 5 new vehicle customers who have registered with Charge my Hyundai by 30 June 2022 will automatically receive the IONITY Premium Package for 12 months when they book a Charge my Hyundai tariff and will be exempt from the IONITY Premium Package base fee. The IONITY Premium package ends after 12 months and is not automatically renewed. This offer is valid once for each new IONIQ 5 vehicle and cannot be transferred to other vehicles or owners. Otherwise, the regular terms and conditions of the selected Charge my Hyundai tariff apply, i.e. there is no Charge my Hyundai base fee exemption.

    Hyundai IONIQ 5 Project 45 new vehicle customers who have purchased the IONIQ 5 Project 45 special model and registered with Charge my Hyundai by 30 June 2022 will automatically receive the IONITY Premium Package for 24 months when they book a Charge my Hyundai tariff and will be exempt from the IONITY Premium Package base fee. The IONITY Premium Package ends after 24 months and is not automatically renewed.     The Ionity package normally costs £11.25 per month. The cost per kW/h is £0.25 so if you are a high mileage user renewing after the end of the free period may be worth it. Ionity installations in Ireland are currently limited to six sites but they are planning an expansion.

    Also in the UK you can sign up to an add on with BP Pulse which costs £7.85 per month. Charging costs between £0.16 and £0.27 depending on type of charger. Again the value would depend on the usage.

    I understand the intention in Ireland is to have the card operating in a similar manner to Flex with Ionity included free for a period. Prices for kW/h will be available on the Charge my Hyundai app for comparison with the regular price.

    yes but how often are you using ionity to charge your EV vs the much cheaper (or even free if you have PV solar) home charging against the same 50 to 60 quid each and every time with an ICE?

    Night time charging can be around 7-10 cent per kWh when you have a smart metre. I have solar panels which can get up to 40kwhs a day in summer prob 10% of that in the winter (didn't get batteries as ioniq V2H and potential V2G was a big selling point and no payback really in batteries when you have night time rates). So will be charging off that 4 days a week (it won't be free technically for about 8 years) the other 3 I have free charger at work. Will only be using public chargers on long trips and when needs must. Also added to that road tax, no real service cost (ICE need a service every 15,000 km EV change filters every few years).


    There more savings in the wider view 🤔

    Face it. Few EV drivers will be using public chargers on a regular basis. My current i40 executive DCT (automatic) gives me around 1175 kms for a full tank averaged over various types of journeys. A full tank last time cost me €95. My new Ioniq5 Premium Plus should, real world performance, offer around 350 kms.

    Looking at possible night rate charging at home of say 12 cent per kW/h in 2022 a full charge would be €8.71 x 3.35 to get the same range as the i40 on a full tank = €29.17.

    At a public charger at ESB pay as you go rates, high power charger, you pay 37 cent per kWh without any discount. Comes to €26.86 for a full charge x 3.35 = €89.98 still a tad cheaper and unless you are touring why would you fully charge at a public point?

    As I said I am pro ev , but the comment was paying an exorbitant price at an ionity charger beats ice prices , I was just saying it doesn’t and shows how ridiculous the charging prices are at them . I will be charging mine at work or at home 99% of the time so it’s not a deal breaker for me , but to get the country electric those without a house charging solution need to be able to buy it a reasonable price .

    Has anyone used the AIB green personal loan? Kind of confused about the application done through the phone.

    Just saids "Your green items must be less than your total loan amount".

    So like if I type in 20k for loan amount and 40k for green item value that message get thrown. Only way for it to work is to have your green item value equal to the loan amount or 50% of it. So putting 10k to 20k in the green value will let me proceed.

    Maybe I'm just thick and not understanding it.

    Can anyone explain an “issue” that there seems to be about the 12v battery running out and leaving people not able to switch on their car?

    I’ve read about it on other forums (fora?!) but don’t quite understand what’s happening / how one would go about fixing it.

    Basically the 12 volt battery operates all the electrical functions of the car, locks, wipers, lights etc. This is topped up from the the main drive battery periodically.

    Problems start when this 12 volt battery gets too low,the central locking won't work and you won't be able to start the car.

    There is a physical key that will allow you to open the door and gain access to the 12 volt battery which then be replaced or charged.

    This was an issue in the original Ioniq but I have only heard of one report on the UK forums of this happening in the I5.

    It's something to be aware of but I wouldn't stress about it.

    It's more likely to happen this time of year as you are using more of the electrics such as heating, lights wipers etc.

    So basically the same issue as any traditional "flat battery"??

    Or is that it goes so flat that even plugging the car into the wall doesn't allow it recharge? (I'm assuming the power electronics do need some power to start to charge the car)

    Exactly, it's just like a flat battery in a regular car, so you'll have to jump the battery or connect it to a trickle charger.

    Plugging your car into the chargepoint won't work as the car requires power to iniate the charge.

    From what I remember the 12 volt is charged periodically while driving and when the car is off. In the old Ioniq you have tick an option in the car menu to charge the 12volt while the power is off.

    It only happened to me once in nearly 4 years,the biggest issue was trying to figure out how to get the key in the door as the key hole is well hidden.
