It wasn't anything to do with the GE. She didn't want to run and appears to be friendly with Jenny Blake.

Not remotely surprised by the resignation. She was never really into social democracy tbh. Backed the FG candidate for the chair of the metropolitan area thing recently, which indirectly blocked pedestrianisation of the city centre. Took actions to block student accommodation in her area.

Also uses the word whom incorrectly the whole time on twitter. I'm not a fan tbh.

You got it right, she is not left of centre

She just used the party who were simply looking for candidates to stand in the locals and she jumped on board(she was elected on transfers from the Socialist Party/Solidarity/AAA).

Elisa declined the opportunity to stand in the general election and Jenny Bond stepped in.It is probable that she had already decided to leave when she declined the offer to stand.

What next for Eliza? With her home base now without a Fine Gael CLLR she would slot in nicely after a suitable period as an indo.

With Maria Byrne's political career now restricted to local politics( if she is lucky),the Ballinacurra Fine Gaelers would happily endorse Elisa as one of their own and on gender and geographical grounds many in FG would see her as an acceptable running mate for Odonnell.

The well heeled Elisa is ambitous and would probably prefer to contest the Dail elections with a party brand after her name.

She is not placing expensive ads about nothing in particular in the Limerick Post for nothing.

The soc dems are embarrassing themselves with this. She got elected off their work and their name. Now she discards them and they should be fuming, but the offical line is that she's wonderful. It's a kick in the teeth to people who worked on her campaign and helped her since.

She was on community radio this morning pretty much sh!t-talking them while Jenny Blake basically nodded along enthusiastically.
She is not placing expensive ads about nothing in particular in the Limerick Post for nothing.

She's not placing expensive ads in the Limerick Post with her income as a county councillor either. She had expensive ads in the papers before she was elected too. I'd like to see her declared campaign expenses/donations.

I've seen those type of statements and plaudits from both sides following splits in the past and from my reading of it, people thinking that this was a one way decision might be barking up the wrong tree.

She was never likely to support Soc Dem policies, why do you think she joined that party?
She knew what she was doing and when she got a result (with help from the other left candidate) her next task was how to ditch the Soc Dems who invested heavily in her campaign.
The softly softly reasons advanced for the ruthless ,self serving decision will hardly fool anybody and of course she will have little difficulty ignoring the pledge she signed that stated she would resign the seat if she left the party.

If we criticise her then we must be sexist huh? That's right out of the playbook of that bunch. And a misuse of the word whom in your previous post. Is that you Elisa?

Nah, McLove is very much his own person. Elisa used to post a lot on here but she closed her account when she went into politics.

I am sure that like myself many on here do not know her at all,nor do we have to know her to be qualified to discuss her public life.

She is a politician after all and many of those who do know her were surprised she joined a left of centre party.

It is certain that she knew the type of party she was joining and the wishy washy reasons she gave for leaving are a bit of a jokeshop. leaving one to conclude her she joined the Soc Dems because it gave her a better chance of being elected.

Don't like her one bit. Would be glad to see the back of her but I guess that's asking too much.

some of the others that got elected are worse than her.

Most of them are what they say on the tin.

It's a shame that she took a seat that would have gone to a green (MacGabhainn had more first preferences) or a genuine SD.

They're a matter of public record, you're free to see them instead of shíting on here about them.

She's moaning on twitter now about pale, stale males in government.

Thanks - my use of whom was very much tongue in cheek because I know it would have picked up on.

FF cllrs have been very quite since the GE too though.

Some of the comments on her Facebook posts are astounding. Not her own comments, the replies. There are some really messed up people in this constituency.

They are well suited to each other then.

She just voted fianna fail for both mayor and deputy mayor over greens and labour. Anyone who voted for her as a progressive candidate should be angry.

'Vehicle restriction measures to block incoming traffic from the Dooradoyle side entering the South Circular Road will be installed on the 16th of July. There will be a one way system in place for the Summer to facilitate safer access for local residents to walk and cycle ‬''

I give up after reading this on her page how are you meant to get in to the estate now you have to nearly go up to punches cross to come down again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,015 ✭✭✭✭Mc Love

Locals should still have access I believe

Should hope so,no sense behind closing it one direction if the road is still open the other direction. Be no safer just as many other cars coming outbound if not more.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,015 ✭✭✭✭Mc Love

That route really should be one way anyway. With the amount of cars parked along the road its nearly one way anyway.

But it slows the cars down though cause u are always on the look out for some one coming & u can gauge what type of person they are driving :D:D:cool::cool:.If it was one way u would go quicker cause u know there is nothing coming against you.

She is now back in the Soc Dems,i dont know the woman but reading about her i never had her as a Soc Dem.

I figured she just used that party to give her a better chance of a council seat when she left not long after being elected.

Now that she is back in could history be repeating itself, could she be using them to fund a mayoral election?
