Incredible last 3 sets from Wright

Smith's scoring deserted him in the end

    Really enjoyable final

Great final and some turn around because it looked like Smith had it in the bag.

Is there something wrong with you that you need to resort to insults?

Is a 100 average great quality and 99 average terrible quality?

Jesus Smith looks gutted. Nearly in tears

    Class darts from Wright

That 10th set was the big turning point.

Bullyboy should have closed it out, but fair play to snakebite, he fairly turned it on when he needed it most.

    Deserving champion

    Magnificent fightback from Wright.

That defeat will play on Smith's mind for a long time.

Not a big darts fan but usually end up sticking the World Championship on as it's on over the Christmas/New Year break. I used to think they were throwing their darts into the crowd at the end 😬

That’s twice in a few weeks now that Wright has destroyed Smith over the last section of a match.

Wright looked dead and buried but he’s got serious mental fortitude

I say it every year but I think they need to change the trophy, looks very tacky

Was very lucky that bullseye didn't cost him but Wright was sensational in that last rush. 2 times a world champion in a field of 96 is phenomenal.

Smith just went off the boil. It was there for the taking but his body language throughout wasn't good.

Might have been his best ever chance when it was 5-4. Be tough to get back again.

    Congratulations Peter Wright.

Have to feel sorry for Michael Smith.

Wright played well but Smith didn’t show up. Anderson would have beaten Smith tonight too

    Ah ffs, gutted for Smith

Was a strange final, both players didn't seem to enjoy the occasion. Weird atmosphere to the game

I think Wright was correct to mention the crowd. It was rock bottom this year.

You'd expect only darts lovers to be at the final but it was a mess

Wright was sensational in the last 3 sets. Brilliant.

    Smith just can't win finals.

That was like Wright had a sprint left at the end of a marathon.

    Great final

Can the audience not just shut the f00k up for the interviews?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,287 ✭✭✭tanko

Why, he bottled it. He didn’t have the cojones for the fight.

    Delighted for Wright.

Remember that poster who always gave Wright a nightmare for being a bottler and said he would never win anything.

    Good call.

Did any player win all the majors in one season ?

By the way, Smith averaged just below 100 and Wright nearly 99. And that in a world final that was an extremely close and nervy math throughout.

To say the standard wasn't great is absolute nonsense.

On the other hand, Smith continues to live up to his reputation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,025 ✭✭✭boomdocker

    No he didn't

Snakebite threw 108, 112 and 113 AVE for the last three sets - he won it , bullyboy didn't lose it.....
