Oil Fired Central Heating

Would anyone have a rough idea of the cost of getting oil fired central heating installed in my home, its a three bedroomed semi-detached ,any help appreciated

From scratch or is there existing rads and pipe work?

Concrete floors all though I was told you don't need to put pipes under floor but I suppose it would be neater.

Yes it would be neater. Post your location and maybe somebody here could reccomend a good plumber to give you a price

Too many variables. Are you going to put the pipes underfloor, or surface? Where are you going to place the Oil tank, the time clock? How many rads?

I am in the Galway area, oil tank in the shed and if the pipes were fitted neat it would be better than ripping up the floors, I guess the number of radiators would be around six.

They can be ran along the surface, it's ugly though. 6 rads sounds like a very low number for a 3 bed semi.

Most of the heating installations I installed were copper drop systems, when fitted/clipped correctly they look perfectly fine, I've never understood this love affair with burying pipes but I suppose the home owner does get a free auto filler:D

Does anyone have a name of an installer in the Galway area that would do a neat job of fitting a central heating unit without putting the pipes in the ground.

And the fact your going from scratch, worth a look at air/water heat pump.

Just wondering what are the reasons that putting an oil tank in a shed is a no no ? Guessing its to do with a fire hazard but are there any other implications ? My bother recently moved his into his garage for security reasons as a lot of people had their oil robbed in the area.

Apologies guys I meant the boiler in the shed and the oil tank will be outside, sorry for the mistake and appreciate the help

Yes it's a fire risk, it can be brought indoors with a lot of cost (fire proof chamber etc.)

If you boiler is in your shed, is your shed wooden??

No shed is concrete

Fit a fuel cut off valve over the burner if you are putting it into the shed.

Would it be much to add an extra rad into a room in a situation where the house is already fitted with Oil central heating? The kitchen in the house has no rad only electric fire but would prefer to add in a rad onto the system already there
