Again with the whataboutery, anyway there's barely any difference in how many children were killed by the IRA and how many were killed by the British army, there's a difference of about ten or so and the Brits killed far more children 12 or under than the IRA did, and bare in mind none of those figures factor in collusion with loyalists.

He clearly wasn't merely mentioning that they were safe when standing next to children, he clearly states in the video they would intentionally do it as much as possible because they knew the IRA wouldn't attack them if children were close by, there's an American ABC documentary which also clearly states they would always try to cross roads with children and move alongside them.

The video is there for anyone to see, they can make their own minds up and I very much doubt most people will come to the conclusion you came to.

Well that's your opinion, I would guess most people in Ireland wouldn't agree with that behaviour, and yes I don't think Loyalists or Republicans ever used human shields and it certainly wasn't common practice.

If you can find the American ABC documentary on South Armagh from the 80s it's been taken down off YouTube recently, the man in charge of the army in the area says something like this, when we are crossing roads or going through any sort of dangerous points in the area we always try to stay very close with the civilan population.

It then shows small children crossing the road implying that it's kids that are the most preferable to use this tactic with.

The army used to always build their army bases located in the countryside around houses and sometimes schools in an attempt to provide protection for themselves.

It was generally just a common tactic used by the British army in Ireland, i don't think there was any official written policy requiring them to do so, that wouldn't have looked very good. The army commander in the ABC documentary clearly states that they ''ALWAYS'' try and move past dangerous points and cross roads and such with the civilan population as ''they are unlikely to want to kill or harm any civilian population at all''.
