Fair play to them though, now all the meighbours can watch the sacrifices at the centrally located covered fire pit altar

This poor house is dire. When I saw picture 13 and the subsequent ones I thought there had been a serious leak, but I think they had maybe just mopped the floors and didn't leave time for it to dry? Which begs the question - how dirty were the floors before? It's on a really busy road into the town too but maybe a plus is that it would have a nice view of the COI church and graveyard across the road?

POA usually means that a house is too expensive for the rest of us plebs, but I don't think that's the case here for some reason. 😕

Looks like a DIY sale, no texts and phone after 5:30 on weeks days. As for price, it can 'command up to 800 per month' so the basic time honored rule of 10 years rent (800x12x10) gives a price of 96,000.

Of course this may be no where near what the seller wants :-)

That's a sad looking home. Adapted on the cheap for elderly person, looks like not a penny was spent on it since it was built.

I didn't even know you could buy a house without an estate agent.

Its in a very poor state. It seems the best thing about the house they could photograph was the open fire ( think there was 4 or 5 pics of the fire) which says it all.

Hopefully the seller is sensible to realise that it is in a poor state and needs alot of work. Sometimes a private seller means the seller doesnt accept the valuation of the auctioneer and thinks its worth alot more.

Whats with the hastags in the adverts.....is "Recently rewired" trending?

No issues buying and selling without estate agent. The only person not in the party is the estate agent. I've done it twice in the past. Agree price and then the two solicitors take over. Result.

No, you can do it without them. Also, estate agents are more for helping you sell a house than buy one. Like obviously, the first place most people go to buy one is an estate agent, and they faciliate the transaction, but on the whole (apart from maybe the spendy end of the market) an estate agent will just point you at their listings on their website and won't actually do any work to help you find a house to buy.

I used to know someone years ago who set up a company after they sold their own house themselves. The company sold a pack for a couple of hundred euro that gathered together a checklist of all the things you needed to do, various tips (around photography, advertising, staging, etc), a professional looking sign to put outside the house with your phone number printed on it, and a listing on their website. Their website still seems to be online, but all the house listings and the registration page throw errors, so I don't know if they're sill in business or not. I assume you can also find all the information you need to do it yourself without buying such a pack. I think the solicitor stuff is the only thing you can't do yourself.

Appliances all relatively new and included (Washing machine, dryer, fridge and cooker)

Yeah, but half of them are sitting outside in the elements.

It could be one of those cheap patio area where they have windows and a see through plastic sheeting roof. They look awful but some houses have them and I imagine the units would be relatively fine once they are sheltered from the rain.

My granny's house (in another area of the town) had exactly what AlmightyCushion mentioned in her house 20 years ago. Technically outside the envelope of the house but it had a plastic roof and was wired so she could keep the freezer etc out there. Had a door and all.

It didn't look too bad at all, I thought. The roof, doors and windows look recent, it needs some refurb but depending on what they are asking its a reasonable enough proposition for a town terraced house. Its all down to the price though, otherwise I would say its an honest enough property.

Lovely scenery, miles away from anything, the nearest bar is a 10 minute drive, Centra is a 15-20 minute drive. It would be freezing from Autumn until Spring...

    Nice though. 🙂

But pricey. €300k and whatever it would cost to do up and modernise, and get the equipment out to it.. Probably close to a million finished?

Wow that looks draughty! That's 200 for the view and 75 for the house and the land.

Its remote, but where I live is about the same distances to facilities and its not a problem.

That could be stunning, what a project. 4 and a half hours from civilisation though. Shame.

Is the red what you would own. What's the story with the red strip going along the coast. How does that house own the small strip next to sea but there is land not yours a ting bit more inland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,134 ✭✭✭Gloomtastic!

Maybe they owned the land beside the red strip and sold it but kept the landing rights that the red strip allows.

Maybe whoever bought the land didn’t want to pay more for the landing rights. I give up!

I would be tempted by it at less than 100k. Still loads of work though. At 300k they're selling you the house you have yet to build on that site yourself. It does have a good bit of land with it, although probably only good for sheep

Sorry for a 2nd post so near to the last, but I saw this...

Same estate agent. Wood wood wood wood wood wood wood wood wood wood..

But I think it's suits some of the rooms.

Edit - Sent it to a friend of mine, it seemed to cause some hatred to surface that I wasn't expecting. She hates it. Thinks the house and everything about it is ugly.. 🤷‍♂️

Nice site and house but the interior isn't great

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,211 ✭✭✭✭Suckit

Yes, I think I would feel a little queazy after any length of time spent there.

No, all the timber is too much. Either a superb restoration job, properly thought out, has been done on the stone walls, or the timber is covering a multitude of sins that will cause damp and mould to gather behind the timber and will rot it, probably sooner than later. The outside does look very nice but the surroundings are bleak. Lovely in the summer but desperate for a lot of the year.

I thought picture 2 looked like it was built by fans of saunas. And sure enough, there's the sauna.

Beautiful house but needs about 70% of the wood inside stripped out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,662 ✭✭✭✭looksee

What are those strange constructions in pic 27 that look like two-storey radiator covers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,729 ✭✭✭Deeec

I like the house from the outside but hate the inside. It needs alot of work - even probably the windows need replacing.

The garden needs alot of work also. Its expensive given the about of work it needs.

The EA gives next to no information on the garages (which look like a fire station), they could be large selling point. You could run a business from them. The house it's self looks to be from the 80-90s, you can see damp on the walls in places, rusty radiators and wood at the bottom of some windows looks rotten. There are a lot of radiators, looks like there is minimum insulation!
