COVID-19 Work Query

    Hi All,

    Hope you can help.

Both myself and my partner recieved positive antigen tests this Monday 10-Jan-22. I alerted my manager in work that morning that i had contracted the virus and that i wasnt feeling great. Btw i am WFH at present. I recieved messages from my manager to my personal phone on Tuesday 11-Jan-22 asking me had i completed a PCR test as HR was questioning my manager. I am below 40 and cannot get a PCR as the HSE states you need to be over 40.

I recieved another text message the next day 12-Jan-22 telling me i needed to get a sick note in order to return to work. I advised my manager that my GP would not be able to provide a sick note as i still have the virus and would not be able to see me physically. My Manager is still insisting that i get a sick note.

What are your thoughts on this? I have been feeling so bad all week and just think the messages to my personal phone are innapropriate.

    Thanks All!

Contact your gp to see if you can get a cert. Also there are more PCR appointments available so see if you can book one

I’d ignore the HSE advice about the PCR can go ahead and book it, tell the manager you will provide a sick cert when your isolation period has ended.

Thanks Marty Bird, Can GP give me sick cert even when there is no Covid after isolation? They are not as worried now about PCR

How is testing positive for Covid stopping you from working when you WFH?

Just completely wiped out Amias. If you have an issue with this stop responding to this thread as i am only looking for genuine responses.

I will alert admin again if you query this.

I don’t have an issue. What did your GP say when you called them.

Yeah sure if you have evidence of positive PCR, first thing to do is go online and book that PCR now.

If you have covid your gp should be advising you - by phone - hiw to monitor yourself and when to call an ambulance. Writing a sick cert an emailing it to you is not difficult.

My GP emailed me a sick cert which I forwarded to my employer.

Hope you feel better soon. I see no issue with your employers conduct either tbf..

Under hse guidelines, u40s are now not to take pcr tests.

They have to rely solely on antigen tests.

So there is a huge anomaly in terms that people will actually be self certifying themselves as sick for work purposes.

The HSE guidance is that under 39’s should seek a PCR if they have a positive antigen…so you are fine to book a test on foot of a positive antigen if you wish…

Contact GP for sick cert and explain symptoms.

Regardless of your age, pop over and get your PCR booking in for tomorrow or the next day to confirm.

Provide evidence of both to the HR

    Rest and recover

If you are good to return say next Monday, make contact with HR and explain that you are better and able to work fine, even though in isolation.
