John O'Shea bet Burnett. He moves onto 5 OOM points now

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭boomdocker

Jamie Clark seems to be a proper player. There or thereabouts three days running - that takes some doing

John O Shea must be very close to a card now

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,753 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

O'Shea just gets over the line against Monk. On 6 points now and looking good for a card

Ross Montgomery on a good run today

Ross the Boss in the final to realise his life long dream of playing in the PDC.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭boomdocker

🤣 On paper he's up against it - serious playing from Jamie Clarke again today, averaging around 95 for the 6 games played so far

Ross does it. Think it makes him the oldest player on the circuit- he turns 60 this year

Luc Peters in the euro school had similar day to Ross- Came into the day with no points and went on to win it

Fair play to Ross the boss he got the job done played well all day. Great day for John O Shea as well almost certain for a card now and delighted for Richie Burnett as well sound man who has worked his bollocks off to get back to where he is now.

Yeah o Shea and mansell are pretty much certs for the card now

I've been saying this in Edgar's comments on his Q School videos, but I don't think this format is truly working to award tour cards to the actual best players. The random draw single-elimination aspect of each of these days combined with not scoring OoM points until the Last 32 stage means really your overall future as a professional darts player has far too much of a luck component about it hoping you don't draw one of the really good players early.

Would it not be far better if they did a Swiss-style tournament each day over say five or six rounds, to get the top 4/8 players who then play single-elim for the automatic Tour Card? That way the OoM ranking gives an equal amount of games to each player, and all victories count right from the start?

I guess you'd need a lot more boards and/or a bigger arena to play the games.

i.e., 128 player knockout is obviously 127 games to get a winner, whereas 128 players each playing 6 games is 384 games.

But agree it would be fairer.

It seems that they're using 16 boards, starting with four games per board at T128, two per board at T64, then 1 per board for the rest of the stages. So that's 11 games-length worth over the course of the current setup. So yea, they'd have to double to 32 boards to be able to do four rounds of Swiss into a top-4 playoff for the card with the same overall length of the day.

Does Ross Montgomery still have that horrible mole/spot on his arm? Hoping it’s gone now - Can’t concentrate watching with it

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,753 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Few casualties in the final euro event. Karel Sedlacek, Benito Van de Pas and Antonio Alcinas.

I think the Polish player Radek Szganski lives in Ireland, currently sitting in OOM spot

Fallon sherrock with a tough draw v Jared Cole

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,570 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    No card for Fallon sherrock

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,753 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

She goes out with a whimper 78 average

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,753 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

John o'shea and Mickey Mansell win tour cards

Danny Lauby fails to win a card

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,570 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Matt Edgar comes back from 5-2 down to win 6-5 and advance to last 8

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,753 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Kcuik wins a card after making a run to the final in the euros

Big games coming up for the lads from the North, Rafferty and Rock - must win to get the golden ticket

Looks like Rafferty plays Wilkinson , in which case it looks like a straight shoot out for one of the last OOM places

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,753 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Rowby John Rodriguez wins a card in the euro by just +3 extra legs

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,570 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Matt Edgar, ted Evetts, Nathan Rafferty and Josh rock into semi finals

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭boomdocker

Nathan Rafferty now guranteed a card.

Josh Rock almost definitely - unless he loses and Edgar wins and can make up a 5 leg deficit on him

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,753 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Brave effort from Edgar but his loss yesterday cost him a tour card

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,037 ✭✭✭Cosmo Kramer

Rock wins the final over Rafferty, but both get cards anyway. I can't say I know anything at all about Josh Rock, has he been around for long as a darts player?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭boomdocker

Don;t know, but saw Alan Soutar interviewed during the week from Q school and he was talking him up

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭Fattybojangles

Just looking at the list of Q School qualifiers many were supposed to play in WDF worlds including Raman who was number 1 seed that will have to be redrawn without all Q school qualifiers now won't it?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,275 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Yeah, 7 players, including 5 seeded players, who were due to play in the WDF worlds won cards.

It will have to be a redraw and possibly more qualifiers. That's if the tournament even happens.
