The Gentleman's Guide To Forum Spies

This seems more like you're intimidated by your opinion being challenged...

  • Subscribers Posts: 42,644 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

What you don't seem to realise / understand is that moderators can check the IP addresses of posters, to see if posters are logging in under different accounts.

There was a poster on here found out for having about 10 different accounts and "sock puppetting" from them.

This news might cause and CTers to shift uneasy in their moms basement, but to us "truthers" (lol) we have no worries.

Well done CQD on highlighting this :)

You have to admit though..a lot of those techniques are constantly on display by the same few posters here..

  • Subscribers Posts: 42,644 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

    Hummmm

Seems the "posting is made which looks legitimate and is towards the truth is made - but the critical point is that it has a VERY WEAK PREMISE without substantive proof to back the posting"... Is exactly the issue with the CTers on here...

But like, anyone here for a while knows what ye're all like, and knows there's no point trying to have a discussion with ye..

And any unfortunate soul unlucky enough to naively engage ye honestly gives up after a while and torrents of abuse..

Hence the forum is in it's current state..

The starting point to have any discussion in the real world is not to admit that what your talking about is fiction. This forum is full of Walter mittys that pull musings from their holes and serve it up as some conspiracy theory.

When they are asked to explain what their theory is, and why they have that theory, the vast vast majority fail even at that early stage.

So the lack of debate and discussion is absolutely due in the main to the topics having no substance whatsoever.

You'd swear it was the conspiracy theories forum..

  • Subscribers Posts: 42,644 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

Are you claiming that musings of fiction should be allowed here?

Its OK to say yes to that question

Will ya ever stop with blaming others for stopping discussion. You and your colleague accounts are the main blockers to discussion because ye can’t handle having views questioned or challenged. Ye even tried to get the forum closed down. I don’t for a second think you genuinely want to discuss, but if you do then answering questions is a key part.

Yeah, I’m sad that my fellow conspiracy theorists didn’t back me up when I said that unicorns were trying to take over the world and that they multiple by coming out of our arses while we’re on the toilet having a shite.

So you believe in unicorns and you're slagging us?..

Now I understand why you believe crap conspiracy theories. You have no piss take sarcasm detector like most humans have. it develops in early teens and is recognised as sign of intelligence, which fits in with a study someone else posted on this forum yesterday.

So to clear it up, my conspiracy theory is a work of fiction like your conspiracy theories. Can’t you back it up please? Maybe I should tweet and set up a dedicated website begging for money to fight the establishment and let the world know the truth.

I'm saying conspiracy theories by their very nature are vague and lack proof..

If there was proof they wouldn't be conspiracy theories..

And any circumstantial evidence that might suggest a conspiracy theory ye don't accept..

So it's pointless trying to discuss these things with ye..

All of ye that were swearing blind it came from the wet market last year..

And pivoted from 'they won't be permanent' to 'vaccine passports are a great idea' in the space of an hour yesterday..

Yeah but who, what, and why are simple questions. Surely if you have a conspiracy theory those questions can be answered, or else it’s complete fantasy verbal puke. For example the argument that masks will remain mandatory for ever. It’s an illogical statement unless some reason can be provided. However, it’s never the case here. Therefore simple questions are asked.

So this false accusation is cropping up again cause CQD is in a mood.

OK. So who is a "forum spy"?

    Who do they work for?

    How are they paid?

Right and where are the conspiracy theories?

It's a public discussion forum. If you are going to post baseless claims here, don't act the victim when asked a question or have your views challenged. If someone's claim doesn't stand up to the tiniest shred of scrutiny, that's the real issue there, not anything else.

If someone goes to a forum and announces satellites are fake or whatever, eh okay, but they are going to be asked questions. If they can't answer any of those questions, can't backup their claim in any normal way and go into complete meltdown accusing everyone of being "trolls" and "shills", yeah, the real issue is that their claims are baseless.

We see this a lot here.

Have you ever read the Reddit Conspiracy Theories' Forum? It's full of interesting topics and discussion, and appears to be completely free of sealioning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,889 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

Yup, it's a cesspit of anti-Semitism, holocaust denial, anti-vax ****, history revisionism, quackery, mountains of contradictory conspiracies, disinformation. It's very obvious you like that stuff and find it "interesting", unfortunately, back in reality, that doesn't mean it has any relationship with the truth.

I've been there before and seen many comments challenging the conspiracies, they are often downvoted to oblivion by the conspiracy theorists, the mods are also conspiracy theorists. Of course when the conspiracies and anti-vax stuff and holocaust denial, etc appear outside that subreddit, on other parts of Reddit, they are treated very differently.

Conspiracy theorists, in my experience, openly hate this whole free speech thing, they crave echo chambers where their views are validated, not challenged.

Nothing stopping groups of posters behaving like that from different up addresses. I guess they could coordinate on a Facebook or WhatsApp group. The forum is full of examples of this behaviour.

I actually had a look at it, lol.

"5) Anti-conspiratorial. They almost always have disdain for 'conspiracy theorists' and, usually, for those who in any way believe JFK was not killed by LHO. Ask yourself why, if they hold such disdain for conspiracy theorists, do they focus on defending a single topic discussed in a NG focusing on conspiracies? One might think they would either be trying to make fools of everyone on every topic, or simply ignore the group they hold in such disdain.Or, one might more rightly conclude they have an ulterior motive for their actions in going out of their way to focus as they do."

"Most people, if responding in anger, for instance, will express their animosity throughout their rebuttal. But disinfo types usually have trouble maintaining the 'image' and are hot and cold with respect to pretended emotions and their usually more calm or unemotional communications style. It's just a job, and they often seem unable to 'act their role in character' as well in a communications medium as they might be able in a real face-to-face conversation/confrontation. You might have outright rage and indignation one moment, ho-hum the next, and more anger later -- an emotional yo-yo."

    Absolutely a legit FBI guide.

Just isn't possible that someone might disagree with a conspiracy theory. They have to be government agents.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,889 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

Thank god someone found this anonymous leaked secret government training manual that proves that anyone who has ever questioned any conspiracy theory was probably a government agent all along.

And what's funny is that pretty much everything on there can be applied to conspiracy theorists here.

It kinda just describes the usual behaviour of most forums and ascribes it to be the tactics of government agents.

Maybe you should stick to Reddit if you're that uncomfortable with your theories being challenged? Cause the thing is whenever one of your theories turns out to be nonsense, you adjust it. Eg permanent COVID measures being permanent to possibly having to wear masks during winter.... You'll either move onto an entirely new theory or claim that a non event proves it.

Meanwhile CQD doesn't even tend to address responses whenever he gets challenged. Ironically enough he tends to resort to being personally abusive which is pretty funny when he accuses others of doing so...

It's a pretty big sign of immaturity from you guys. Shut down the forum cause you face critical analysis? We're in a period where conspiracy theories have provoked violence, filling of our ICUs, storming of the capitol and we even had a Freemasons hall set on fire. So you should not get carte blanche to go unchallenged.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 547 ✭✭✭shillyshilly

I had a quick browse through some of them, and it appears that every technique I delved into has been used in the "all-covid-19-measures-are-permanent-dont-be-a-boiling-frog" by......

the people who are claiming that all measures will be permanent...

    good work guys!

keep seeking the truth, except when it challenges anything you personally believe in

I love that there's a conspiracy theory about the CT forum here simply because there are folks here who try to teach critical thinking skills to those who lack those skills here.
