Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Go and drink a bottle of whiskey or wine or something and then in future you can tell people you started a thread on a discussion forum one day asking people to tell their stories without offering anything of your own.

It won't be an entertaining story, but at least you won't look like you think people come here only to amuse you.

Here's a thread from 2005. I might have featured back then, but I can't remember now.

This wasn't me but my friend in DIT. He was a massive idiot looking back. He was in his first year of college three years ago and liked this hot girl. She was polite and friendly but didn't really reciprocate his interest.

He decided to come on to her when the whole class went for drinks. She basically told him straight to "**** off". Got pissed off and decided to go be massively immature and go upstairs and pour her bottled water in her handbag.

Thought he got away with it and was grinning the days I met him until her roommate found video footage of him going into her room.

Called the Gards, he got a caution and had to pay €800 to replace her iPhone and handbag.

Lad I know fell asleep on the Redline in Chicago. Woke up on the way north to his apartment but was several stops before the one he got on.

In other words the train went north past his place, turned around, went ALL the way south and way headed back north again. The south side is the place they make movies about. His pockets were cut open and his wallet was gone.

He said he was thankful that's all they took!

    This was around 2000.

Injured myself (a fair few times).

My worst stupid thing: Tried to kill myself by stupidly running out in front of cars (could have killed others, so that's my stupidest thing. No one was harmed though, I kinda didn't try also, if you know what I mean).

My best stupid thing: Calling out my boss for homophobia in 1992(?) when bladdered at a Christmas work party, in front of everyone (FF opposed decrim at the time, he was a member). Still proud of that one.

    1) Missed my flight home from France the next morning …

    2) booked a holiday that i could just about afford but had not checked if i could get the time off work… I managed to negotiate the time off…thankfully my manager saw the funny side of it.

I fell off a step ladder and broke my ankle.

I wouldn't consider that even close to the most stupid, if it hadn't been that I encountered some obstacles in recovery and only a year later was able to start walking without excruciating pain.

The most stupid could take me a week to run through the years from age 19-34 and pick out maybe the top twenty or so.

When I was working down there... outside a Nightclub after closing in Wexford town waiting for a taxi which there weren't too many around and plenty of people ahead of me. Spotted an unlocked rough and ready bike in a nearby doorway. Hopped on it and cycled the 2-3 km odd home with no lights, or high viz, obviously no helmet etc. Fuked it into the next door neighbours lawn as he was a bit of a dik and went to bed.

Felt slightly bad about it the next day but not too much pity for someone who leaves a bike unlocked on a weekend night along a busy street all the same, crappy and all as it was.

Most stupid thing I ever done when drunk was punching a wall in a temper and breaking a bone in my hand as a result. I remember laughing hysterically afterwards but the next morning when the booze wore off I was in total despair at what I had stupidly done.

I done the very same thing except it was a fridge I punched. Ended up having to give a night in hospital with it and a cast for 4 weeks.
