Has anyone been to the Fingal offices this week in relation to the consultation process on the two points the DAA are trying to get overturned?

1) Condition 3(d) of the 2007 planning permission prohibits the use of the new North Runway for landings and take-offs between the hours of 23.00 and 07.00.

2) Condition 5 states that, on completion of construction of the new runway, the average number of night-time aircraft movements at the airport shall not exceed 65 per night (between 23.00 and 07.00).

I know that Fingal County Council have been assigned to carry out a noise assessment to evaluate airport noise at Dublin Airport - considering that DAA are Fingal County Council's biggest rate payers is this not a conflict of interest?

Will the rates increase depending on the noise assesment?

Anyone know how the runway is going? Will it mean that half the traffic will be split between the 2 runways.

I think more likely they'll use one runway for takeoffs and the other for landings

At the moment the planes taking off have to wait for a plane which is landing, which can cause delays

Using separate runways the only limit is how quickly they can take off and land

They've been trying that for years, haven't gotten anywhere

Hopefully Fingal won't back down, and I believe it could go to An Bord Pleanala if there's an objection

I don't think there'll be set take off and landing runways, they can both be used for either

A lot will likely depend on weather conditions, and they might alternate them to reduce wear and tear

Seems the way to run for max capacity is both runways doing both takeoff and landing, but this seems to require a lot of infrastructure and coordination

According to DAA the north runway will have less arriving traffic towards the west and less departing traffic towards the east if that makes sense.

I see that thanks. So I guess the runway will not make much difference to the current landing regime as the south runway is the preferred option for landing

Essentially yes, but there will be times where operationally they may need to use it as the primary runway.

I wouldn't think so. It's not as if the DAA can move their airport to another location if they don't like the results of the survey so Fingal Co Co are under no pressure to kowtow to the airport authorities.
