    God damnit Connacht.

I just heard one of the stade players say he was talking French. I’m sure after playing there he’s picked up the sweat words!

Wtf was he thinking with that neck drag out in the open. Suicidal stuff

If Stade get into 8th spot it's R92 v Stade in last 16

This is the most embarrassing collapse since Scarlets away where we had a ridiculous HT lead

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,153 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

    Wow its exciting!

No, it's just shyte rugby and an utter failure of shape and discipline from both sides. Connacht guilty of some dreadful rugby intelligence the last 15 minutes and the 5 missed tackles on the Stade Scorer of the last try was criminal.

    Rubbish, absolutely rubbish.

That was awful, nothing learned from last week. No leadership, no control just nothing from the captain or leadership group. Carty has probably played himself out of the Irish team over the last 2 games.

Really awful. To throw away another big lead after last weekend is shocking. On a hiding to nothing in the last 16 afraid

We've genuinely not progressed under Friend in all honesty. For every big win in the RDS, Ravenhill etc there's a woeful bottlejob not far around the corner. There's very few teams that could manage to lose with an extra man for 30 minutes and an 11 point lead.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,766 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

I think the criticism of Friend is OTT

Connacht don't have top level Props after Buckley and Bealham so they will struggle to a degree. It makes such a huge difference at this level.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,982 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Burke, Aungier, and McCoy are decent options. We were just way too far down the depth chart today, with our 4th and 5th choice tightheads in the squad.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,766 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

They are good at URC level IMO. This is a massive step up. If Bealham and Buckley were playing today, they would likely be playing 70+ minutes

A few years ago Connacht were shipping 50-ish points away in Europe and not being competitive at all.

A 5ft 4 lad beat 6 players at one stage. Scrum is the least of the issues.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,153 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

It's an indictment of the competition that P4 W1 qualifies, even in Covid confusion times.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,766 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

The scrum is a major issue. There was 4 or 5 scrum penalties which cough up 40/50m territory. That's huge in a 6 point game

Given how many props were unavailable I'm not too annoyed by this. We lost so many scrum penalties which gave position and ultimately tries off the line-outs. Duggan had to go the 80. Stade brought in fresh forwards at the right time. To pick up 2 BPs was a good return. We were out in our feet at the end. It was their pack beat us.

Didn't know what to expect before the game but that's a very disappointing loss from a winning position (again) we had gotten ourselves into.

2 weeks in a row just not good enough to close out the games.

The scrum was always going to be in trouble with no Buckley, Bealham, Aungier, Burke, McCoy etc. They were on the backfoot at scrumtime the entire match but still managed to be 11 points up coming in midway through the second half. Any decent team should close out the match in those circumstances.

He is some player! Connacht suffer big time when he begins to tire. Wonder why Dillane wasnt tried as a 6 at the same age. Same build and too light for second row

  • Registered Users Posts: 595 ✭✭✭jimdemp

Mack Hanson made some great defensive reads today! Looks like he is close to back to himself

  • Registered Users Posts: 595 ✭✭✭jimdemp

Sam illo should have been brought on earlier, the srum could be any worse. Dowling got injured 56mins but was left on which i find crazy giving his injuries last year and the sub you have on the bench with added bulk for scrum time. Connacht management never seem to get the sub timings correct. Too late in the first Leicester game and too early in the second.

Connachts game plan tire them out before the opposition gets tired.

So how long before the IRFU tell Connacht there's getting another "home" game in the Aviva 😂

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,535 ✭✭✭FACECUTTR

I wouldn't expect to win a Urc game with the props named today never mind a champions cup game that Stade had interest in. They just didn't have the experience at that level. You have to have some sort of set piece to play from. If the forwards are on the back foot the start of the game what hopes do the backs have to try and make it up. There's too much of a gap from Buckley and Bealham to the back ups. They will be fine in a couple of years but they need 30 or 40 games. Obviously covid was an issue in the squad so getting a team together and being within 1 score with 2 points in the bag to me is a result. We were more than likely going to be playing Leinster anyhow.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,766 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

That would mean playing there two weeks in a row as Leinster will want to play there.

Reckon Thomond might be where Connacht might consider going

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,581 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

Why would they not play in Galway? Why **** the home supporters?
