Water/Leak issue

My water/pressure pump keeps coming on every 90 seconds for approx 4 seconds. I have checked, and re-checked taps, toilets, showers for a leak/drip there is nothing obvious. I can turn off all feeds (I think all anyway, ie there is no water coming into taps, showers and toilets) and same thing, pump is coming on....

Possibly related...I have a 1 inch copper pipe feeding into the drain (overflow of some sort?), with pump switched on it has a constant flow coming out of it (ie you can hear it), with pump off it slows to a trickle but stays constant.

Thoughts or pointers much appreciated.

Update to above, I am keeping said pump switched off most of the time and just flicking it on for showers...its a pain!

probably copper pipe overflow coming from the ballcock lealing in either of the 2 tanks in attic

So, a little more info, I do have 2 tanks in attic, one feeding the other, ballcock one has a constant trickle flowing but is is not getting to the overflow outlet (or even near it), in any event the overflow pipes lead to my roof - confirmed by forcing water down one of them.

Can you not figure out where the copper overflow pipe is coming from at all?

Don't think so, all I see is about 1.5 inches coming from the house direction into the drain. How would I go about figuring this out? Is there a sequence of things to try? Thanks a lot btw... this is driving me demented!

If you have a pump to improve the pressure then you should have a pressure vessel.

The issue with pump constantly running for few seconds is symptom of failed internal diaphragm.

Update...got a plumber round, safety valve/pipe off the pump has failed and the expansion vessel charged. Overflow into the drain is directly from the safety valve/pipe....getting it fixed next week. He mentioned diaphragm so that could be the same as above.

Also I now know exactly what every pipe in the in the pump cupboard does.
