Panic will now start with people rushing down to the supermarkets for toilet roll and cans of beans.

    Sure thing.

De Russians would have put a nuke sub in Cork harbour.

Much better there than out in the open.

    Makes perfect sense.

Well that was as shite as I had imagined, except for Tom. They should have left Tom on for longer, that could have gone anywhere

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,762 ✭✭✭leath_dub

When Tom wouldn't yield to Joe's simplistic world view, you could sense Joe's increasing annoyance. I'm surprised he lasted as long as he did

Wasn’t able to listen to the show but I can see from a quick glance at the thread that we can add “geo-political and global conflict expert” to the list of Mr. Duffy’s many talents…..

Why he's suddenly got a bee in his bonnet re Russia all of a sudden beyond me, he's absolutely clueless and it showed 🙄

Maybe he applied for membership of de Komsomol back in his revolutionary period and was turned down for being a bit pinkish rather than red.

Honestly folks, could you imagine Dufffy presenting a serious, current affairs program 🙄

There's a reason why you never see him on any form of a serious panel show; he's generally ill informed and near clueless on serious matters. He has no intellectual depth and in a gathering of his peers he's very quickly found out. He can't just shout over them like he does to ordinary callers on the radio.

From his basic pronunciation to his inability to think on his feet to his constant failure to take in what a person is saying and not listening to them, he's a disaster.

Apart from a few soft interviews he had when doing his books, he's never been on anything of note and he'd never be considered for a job in current affairs, or for a main chat show like the LLS or something Tommy Tiernan does. The one show I remember him doing, The Spirit Level was the dead hour on a Sunday afternoon. I didn't watch the Meaning of Life, it may be interesting conversation, but it's not in depth analysis.

The one time I remember him on Marian Finucane was 'nepotism weekend' when Brendan O'Carroll took over and it was a cash bonus for the Funny Friday club.

He's a fool. The interview he did with the Brazilian policeman in the wake of the Pat Hickey affair sums up his inabilities in a neat 15 minute segment.

I find that in extremely bad taste. People died. I'm sure it was a great laugh all along for scare byrne and her production team so they are probably sad to see it go. Most rte programme appears to me to be ran mostly for the benifit of those working on the programme, and I use word "working" very loosely.

And the entire discussion about how much fun everyone having, Drinking, socialising since the news broke on restrictions relaxing, its quite disgusting actually.

Only in your head this one I think. Some people need a release. Others release is venting on the likes of boards.ie or even this thread. Each to their own. Not that I agree with the a lot of the melodrama or processing it guff. But many industries took a hammering. Just because some want to now enjoy themselves does not mean they are disgusting. It is how they find a release.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 26,978 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

I didn't say individuals disgusting, I was was referring to thee general media hysteria reporting, they make it seem like the entire nation was looked in a bunker for two years and only released last Saturday for some air, a week earlier, clamoring for stories on anyone breaching restrictions.

Fair enough. A very quick u turn in double quick time and all the media jumped on.

In the past while I have felt that even the mainstream Irish media has become very Tabloidesque in their own way. Even before these restrictions ended.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Did I miss much cawlurs?

That would be N for tooth extraction without pain relief would have been more enjoyable

There was a small section where Joe met his match with someone who actually knew what he was talking about but he was quickly dispatched before he could embarrass Joe anymore

    Are you new here? 🤣

I’ve been saying all of the above and much, much more for years. The man is an embarrassment. If he was on €40k for what he does he would be overpaid; but yet somehow RTÉ manage to pay him over 10 times that amount. He gets paid more than the country’s Taoiseach and Tanaiste combined, more than best medical consultant in the state (public work), more than the President…..for 75mins work, 5 days a week, 40 weeks a year. On top of that he pays fock all tax, regularly abuses his position by promoting his side gigs, his vanity projects and own wares (as well as those of his buddies), and takes credit where none is due. His ego knows no bounds as he considers himself a maven of almost every topic no matter how complex, when all evidence points to the fact that even the most rudimentary mathematics and language confuses him. His ambition is only matched by his ignorance - that he actually harbours notions of the presidency is so laughable it’s dangerous. Financial enrichment far beyond any ability or intellect has given him an irrational confidence and self-belief that beggars belief. He should be quietly removed from his post and hidden away from public sight, but only in RTÉ could such a buffoon and an ignoramus flourish.
