Saw and, more importantly, heard, Sibéal, in Drogheda a couple of years ago. Such a beautiful, pure voice. Magical

What I really like about John Creedon’s programme is the way it transports me back. Suzanne Vega. Scullion. Kate Bush. And a miriad more. Need I say more

Always a good idea to finish on a high and can't get better Elvis Costello than Shipbuilding. What a song, that trumpet is sublime. Goosebumps every time!

Nice bit of OMD there last night

Big sigh of relief here when John quickly corrected himself after referring to 34 year old Courtney Barnett as "youngish". Strewth, mate! She is great though, he's spot on there.

Has Neil Young passed away or summat?

  • Registered Users Posts: 72,622 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

Turns out he was just on a Young vibe.

Must have left his John Prine records at home!

This tune reminds me of The Blizzard of Odd with Colin Murphy.

I remember last years Patrick's Day he was playing more of a wedding playlist, better selection this year.

Becoming a fan of the Fiachna show, if you will.

Off topic but Cathal Murray away too so Lillian Smith filling in on Late Date. Like a sweet blast from the past, nice to hear her in her natural slot again imo.

Great start from Lilian - ‘Here, There and Everythere’ by the Mopfabs, followed by ‘Sign ‘O’ The Times.

I was tipping away at a few jobs last night, so it was only on in the background, but did Lillian seem a little p*issed off at having to cover last night? Seemed to keep making snide remarks?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

As much as i like Lillian, the output has felt a little bland tonight. Whiskey in the Jar, Always on my mind, Mystery Girl etc. Not bad songs, just a bit jaded for me. Doesn't work so well in this slot for me, prefer her in the wee small hours.

I've noticed before on her early weekend shows, Lillian gives out and moans about some things

I suppose she did have to put it all together very last minute.

Great choices so far from Lilian tonight.

    Everyday by The Saw Doctors.

Great song but a bit grim.

    Now Tolu Makay doing N17

A very talented soul singer saying the phrase 'The Auld Fella' is never not funny to me.
