Javascript Library to display json entities

Hey,

Looking to learn javascript and I have an idea that would basically be just to put a front end on an api as a learning exercise.

Just wondering if you had any javascript libraries or frameworks you would suggest looking into?

Jquery is the most widely used and easy to learn, lots of plugins if not already included in the core

Some of this may be true, but JQuery is not a modern Javascript library, and not a good approach to learn.

@nullObjects , to learn the basics of Javascript, don't bother with a framework or library, to start with. Start by writing a plain script to call your API using fetch, and simply printing it to the console.

Then start investigating the Javascript way of doing things for UI, and pick one of the many UI frameworks - I'd suggest React, but Angular or Vue would work just as well. Start really small, and work up to bigger things.

Think what you said about fetching the data and printing it is probably the way to go.

In case it helps anyone else I bought the Javascript Cookbook from O'Reilly press and found it useful.

Just learned the grammar / syntax from google and then different snippets from the book to muck about with side projects

Also check out Kyle Simpson's You Don't Know JS series of books. He's currently writing the second edition but the workings of JS as described in the first edition are still valid today.
