Would you rule the Pixies out based on their Galway and Iveagh Gardens gigs, lads? Surely the fact that they're across the water at the End of the Road festival that weekend gives us a chance? Nothing else booked around it either. God I'd love that, a full set of roaring my head off.

It looks like Connect Festival in Scotland is coming back, Connect for you old EPer's was the festival who traded acts with EP in 2007 and 2008 albeit at a smaller capacity than EP. But this festival is occurring in the last weekend in August so the lineup should be a crossover with EOTR and EP. Will post first announcement here if it happens.

The Specials announced yesterday for Botanic Gardens, Belfast on 5th June. There's your Sunday afternoon Main Stage sorted!

I don't they'll ever play it now, EP had their chance in 2019 when the lads were touring Ireland and Northern Ireland around the EP dates but never took it.

A French festival no doubt trading acts with Rock en Seine on the same weekend in late August.

Pretty sure Liam G will be EP. He loves Ireland!

Victorious Festival in Portsmouth UK announced their lineup late December and have some interesting and contrasting acts to other festivals announced around the same time. Foals apparently added to the Friday headliners, so jointly headlining with the Stereophonics.

Id be delighted for them, they were my first gig back in 2005, plus they are a great festival band imo

Yes!!! Especially as I missed them in December

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,719 ✭✭✭rubick

They were incredible. I'd take the Mondays in a heartbeat too!

I'd say a fair chance but won't be announced until later. A few tickets left for the two Galway gigs so if they's doing EP we'd probably not know until late July.

My turn for requests. My soundtrack this morning has been The Skids and the entire mixed and varied career of Steve Winwood. Good people at FR can we please have both in Stradbally?

Do we think they'll keep the line-up as close as possible to the 2020 cancelled festival or mix things up a bit?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,719 ✭✭✭rubick

I think we'll likely see Arctic Monkeys, Fontaines D.C. and (thankfully) RATM as they seem to have been rebooked for Reading & Leeds for 2022.

EDIT: and Run the Jewels, who seem to be touring with RATM.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,596 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

I reckon that's accurate. And as laddish lineups go.......

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,719 ✭✭✭rubick

Arctic Monkeys peaked after that wee wink from the drummer in the video for I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, after that it was diminishing returns.

Unless they do their own headline show I can see Tame Impala as one of the 3 with AM/RATM

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,596 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

I love when The Sun Goes down, most of AM and a few other tracks but they were woeful at EP. My partner was also photographing them there and they had lots of copyright and contractual restrictions. No other act had that weekend and it left a bad taste with those working in the pit.

I'd prefer some other headliner but I'll not complain as I'd give them 30/40 mins or else catch something else on the 10/11 other stages available. We'll not be short of stuff to see.

Had become bored with them myself. But love their most recent album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

Radiohead & Sons of Kemet. Shall we add them to the shopping list?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 14,934 Mod ✭✭✭✭Furious-Red

Same they bored me to tears at EP too the only reason I stayed watching was because I was getting a lift home with my friends and they were heading straight after.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,596 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

Our crew gave up after 30/40 mins and headed to The Knife who were excellent.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,682 ✭✭✭Stillill42

Yeah, they were a massive disappointment at EP, I was really looking forward to them but hey, always room for redemption. They've got such a great back catalogue. I'd still get myself up the front and hope for the best. Look at us, talking about bands and stuff. Like a proper festival thread.

I remember the Glastonbury set they had after AM came, looked brilliant. Didn't see them that year at EP so can't comment but have seen them plenty of times at festivals and gigs over the years and I always enjoyed them. Think the first time was oxegen 2006 in the pissing rain. I love AM as an album but to be honest I haven't listened to anything they've done since. Still, I'd see them as perfectly acceptable headliner. But for me, rage will be the main event this year by a country mile.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,624 ✭✭✭Mucker46

Due to Covid didn't go in December and of all the gigs I missed over the last two years that's the one that I regret most so would love to see them at EP. So nice to be talking about EP with real hope

    Snarky Snark Snark

    oooh, sugababes, noice

(they had a crackin cover of "I bet you look good on the dance floor" too)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,501 ✭✭✭PabloAndRoy

    Yeah, I suppose.

To be honest, I think I would prefer Sons of Kemet again. Were the best act of 2019 (IMHO).

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,875 ✭✭✭Rfrip

The sugababes would be brilliant, 5.30pm on a sunday afternoon......

@desk tidy was saying last night that rumours abound that Roisin Murphy will be added to the ATN line-up so that would likely rule her out of EP.
