Mourneabbey 2 points down at ht.

Not playing well, not scored from play and missed a golden opportunity for a goal but got one from a penalty on the stroke of ht and that could be a real turning point.

Moving the ball way too slowly into the forwards, too many handpasses between the 40's. Badly need fast ball to be effective. Opponents playing very well.

Still 2 points in it at the water break.

Had a great chance of a goal come back off the crossbar.

Not to be for Mourneabbey today lost by 4 in the end, beaten by the bettet team.

Forwards never allowed to get into their stride, combination of good defending and slow ball through the lines.

A solitary point from play tells its own story- considering their scoring totals normally.

Really bad defending by the Barrs to give away a goal in the opening 5 mins

Barrs lead by 2 at ht

Playing well, pressing up well but are fouling quite a lot, 3 yellows received, playing on the line a little, which for a Cork football side is actually nice to see.

They are not standing back at all.

    Draw for the Barrs.

Last second free for Cill Chua to win it and Brannigan decked a Barrs man- shoulder to chest i think -, Red card and the ball was thrown in instead

    Lost by 5 aet.

They gave it their all and have had a very successful season.

Once it got to extra time St Finbarrs goose was cooked. They really had to nick it in normal time. They arent as fit as Kilcoo. Played well in patches but fairly toothless up front. Lots of endeavor but that's Cork football in a nutshell isn't it. Lots of passing and some good players but ultimately find it impossible to put up winning scores.

Barr’s can hold their head high but like last poster said it’s kinda like watching Cork football in general.

no disgrace though as they were big underdogs going into it

Looking like another embarrassing day for Cork Football

Allianz Football League Rnd 1 Div 2⁩

    Half Time

    Roscommon: 1-10(13)

    Cork: 0-6(6)

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Cork went 21 mins without scoring but at least have the wind in the second half

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,883 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

I had hoped for better. Away games are always tough, but we have to be doing better than that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,244 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

Absolutely grim. Div 2 is tough but that's a shocking start so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,244 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

21 minutes in the 2nd half without a score. Atrocious.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

    It is over. Shocking stuff

    Full Time

    Roscommon: 1-13(16)

    Cork: 0-10(10)

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,542 ✭✭✭The White Feather

4 points with the wind in the second half.

Thought we would be way better than that but I have to lower my expectations again it seems. I didn't think they could get any lower

Relegation from Division 2 would be an unmitagated disaster this season, we had better show some improvement.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Amprodude

Poor from Cork. I really don't know what can they do to improve things down in Cork? Is football gone really bad there since 2013? We won 3 league ones in a row in the 2010s and now we are struggling to do well in division 2. Ricken won't be the answer to Corks senior footballs problems either. Embarrassing to be honest.

I'm amazed that some seem little shocked by today.

This is same team that were gutless in summer in Killarney. Not sure what people are expecting. We are years behind.

There are new players here this year but I honestly don't think they are good enough imo. Anymore about this 5 year plan for Cork football? I thought this was were Cork football was to be restored under a rebuilding plan. There has been no improvements since 2017.

When I seen the team I saw two or three that I wouldn’t have playing senior at club level never mind inter county.

I know manager wants to try new players but as an observer of a lot of club games in cork you wouldn’t need to be Einstein to know some of these lads are not inter county standard.

The standard in cork football is poor if you take Barrs , Nemo and Haven out of it rest of teams really are intermediate at best . I’m not from any of these clubs as my club are junior but I think we need to pick majority of cork team from those 3 clubs as at least they would be battle hardened and would be senior standard.

Roscommon were missing players from St Faithleachs and Pearses who were playing this weekend. Yes Cork were missing lads from the Barr's but it just shows how weak the Cork team is.

What will be seen as a successful year for Cork in 2022? Staying in Division 2? Not getting mauled by Kerry again in Munster? That's the best we could realistically hope for, but we aren't making any progress if this is it just like the other years. There are alot of clubs in Cork itself, so surely we can at least get 15 decent inter County players together? I would struggle to imagine they aren't there??? Cork really should be doing better.

Success would be staying in Sam Maguire but I don't think they will. They will suffer the ignominy of the Tailteann Cup (and won't win it).

It's not exactly clear but it might be referencing moving the Kerry game from the Páirc because of the concert.
