Duffy is playing a smart game here.

When he runs for President in a few years he will be able to say to all those in their early 20s that he campaigned on Liveline for the traditional LC to be abolished.

Moany bastards, they'd be complaining again when they don't get a place on a course because every student was given higher grades than they deserved due to following a hybrid model.

I preferred the leaving cert when mental health wasn't a crutch students and parents used. Some how everyone got through it back then and survived to tell the tale.

Good job they weren't from out the country, we were regularly taken out of class for pickin spuds or thinowing beet, that'd toughen them up

Don't really care either way but at least it can now be seen clearly where the real power lies in the education system - the teacher unions. The system largely exists for them and their needs/ employment and whatever they say, goes down. So when we get back to the annual debate on the shortcomings of the exam system, parents & students now know why there is little or no change.

Never forget the poor girls who were freezing in school coz a skirt is part of their uniform even tho they are allowed to also wear trousers. They had it worst of all.

I propose an hours silence followed by an hour of clapping followed by another hour of silence in memory of those brave brave cold girls.

EEh, luxury. When we got to school, the school moved another five miles for the next day, just to keep us tough.

And we slept in gravel in the middle of the road.

I know a girl in my class who had a baby just before doing her A-levels....I was off for two months with pneumonia in hospital before mine...

These are fairly poor excuses let's be honest.

    rhonchi (a low-pitched breath sound)

    crackles (a high-pitched breath sound)

wheezing (a high-pitched whistling sound caused by narrowing of the bronchial tubes)

stridor (a harsh, vibratory sound caused by narrowing of the upper airway)
