Hi all, just looking for some advice on a good place to stay in Tenerife (late July/early August) within walking distance of the beach and the main thoroughfare.

We are early 50s, like walking, the beach and good food. not mad into nightlife but a bar with music would be good. Have heard of Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos, Los Americas. Is any one better/nicer than the other or are there nicer places?

Many thanks in advance for any/all replies 👍️

I have stayed many times in Tenerife royal gardens apartments . Tenerife is great for walking you can walk from Los cristainos to las caletta all by promenade going by las Americas,Costa adeje and del duque. Roughly 11 km long. Las vistas and crimson beach are lovely and both 1 min from there apartments. Anywhere around this area would be good . Very near shops and restaurants which are vibrant at nite.

Your welcome. Looks at Parque Santiago 3 or 4. Cleopatra hotel. Parque la Paz apartments. Spring bitacora or spring vulacanohotel. Tigitan lovers and friend hotel. If you book on their own websites it's usually cheaper.

El Medano is a very nice town with nice quality good value restaurants and bars, no hassle

    https://www.google.com/maps/place/38612+El+M%C3%A9dano,+Santa+Cruz+de+Tenerife,+Spain/@28.0457475,-16.547521,15z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0xc6a9fe70df499bf:0x4cb7ae40e9b6aeb5!8m2!3d28.0459835!4d-16.5363109

    apartments and hotels available

Whatever you do imo DO NOT stay in the hellhole area of Playa De Las Americas (and surrounding areas) unless you like constant heckling / hassle / annoyance to go into terrible bars and restaurants (only concerned about "getting people in" and the food is dire without exception)

Buses/ taxis are a short jaunt over to those other "areas" if you have to see them but Medano is way way nicer as you would soon realise.

Costa Adeje would in my opinion be a bit quieter than the other named places in the op,the other 2 very lively and a bit noisy with a much younger crowd.

if you want to stay away from the nightlife and £2 breakfasts, avoid Los Americas. Los Cristianos is the nicer of the 2 but if you want quieter again, try the Golf del sur (it’s not just for golfers) There is a nice walk to a fabulous Fishing village called Los Abrigos.

Apologies OP for hijacking your thread. Having never visited Tenerife looking for advice. I have booked Tenerife and two AI hotels. Whilst both are a trek from the beach, this doesn’t bother us not too sure which to go with. Green gardens resort or Gran oasis resort, both on the outskirts of Las Americas golf club (we are not golfers), has anyone experience of either, Gran Oasis is closer to Los Cristianos, is this a nicer area to visit during the day. Any other info on things to do appreciated or places worth a visit. 2 adults and 2 teens, not interested in nightlife, don’t mind hiking or walking. I see there is a national park and Mount Tiede has anyone visited?

Tenerife is beautiful. So much on offer if you head away from the sea and head for the hills.

Rent a car and go exploring. Visit Masca and los gigantos.

The drive to masca is special.

Santa Cruz (Capital city) is more a functioning business environment than a holiday resort which would suit people looking for a quieter holiday, snag is that nearest beach is about 8km from there but it's a very nice beach.

Stayed at the Barceló at Christmas by Golf del Sur. Tons of pools, sunbeds etc, was quiet and very nice, I was on all-inclusive basis.

Very nice city, you can get buses out to interesting places from the capital, a great seafront walk.

There’s so much to see and do in Tenerife. Over the years I’ve visited it, having brought my elderly Mum, have done all of the following:

helicopter flight over coast & cliffs

    submarine trip

    parascending

    Loro Parque parrot park

taxi tour of every part of island

    cable car up Mount Teide

Parque de Las Aguilas (eagles etc)

boat trip to La Gomera island
