Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Just screenshot it?

The six-letter version on the archive site is a good variation on the theme.

If screenshotting, make sure to crop the background out, or it will reveal today's solution

    Looking good.

Mine is, shall we say, carrying a bit more weight around the bottom :-)

Yesterdays one screwed me over (think it screwed a lot of ppl over), 4 letters from position 2, but still didn't get it. Otherwise I'd be at 100% win rate.

FYI, I don't use a technique, which is a technique. My first word is always random.

No keep posting your scores. The league is just for those who shared their scores last Friday and runs for 7 days. This Friday it resets and a new league begins so you’re more than welcome to join in for that one.

After 3 weeks, the top lot (tbd how many) of each of those leagues play off in a finals week. And then we reset again. Considering Wordle is now sold, I dunno how long we’ll get cos I ain’t paying NYT to play

But everyone post their scores as they wish. I’ll just collate the scores of players that I need.

I'm sure that you've all seen the news that Wordle has been purchased by the New York Times and that it "will remain free initially". That implies that it will not be free eventually. At a minimum it'll contain ads and alerts and all the usual nonsense that we can expect from "free" products online these days.

If you wish to continue to play with the existing look and feel, it in its current form, for the long run, then you can do that easily enough. It turns out that Wordle is entirely front-end and runs entirely in your browser. You can take advantage of this fact to run the game from your a file on your computer. All you need to do is the following:

    1. Open Wordle in your browser and right click anywhere on the page
    2. Choose "Save as" from the popup menu
    3. Choose a suitable location on your computer and Save
    4. You will now see Wordle as a .html file in that location. You can run it by double clicking (It'll run in your browser but the URL will read that location instead of the website)

Now, if and when the powerlanguage website no longer works you can play from this file instead. It will even work if you aren't connected to the internet.

The only downside is that your historical scores will reset and start again from scratch, but that's a small price to pay.

    That's interesting @Brussels Sprout.

I'd say NYT paid "in the low millions" for the name only.

the game can be easily replicated with minor adjustments and be put back up free on the internet.

In fact there are several versions and even a TV program called "Lingo" already out there.

Great game. Is this a new invention or has this been around before in other forms?.

I like my first guesses to have a couple of common vowels, like A or E. Then some common consonants like S, C, T, L, R, N

    Oh cool, thanks :)

I would like to join in when it starts again (if I can remember to log into boards daily!)

lol, everything about NYT is a pay-per-view thing, if they do it, their investment was wasted - will kill the game faster than people get bored with it.

If they do charge, Absurdle might be an interesting alternative torunament, as the set word changes with each guess and the amount of guesses are endless (to a point anyway) - player scores could vary greatly (unlike wordle, I suspect).
