Cannot make a payment

I have set up a new payee on my account. I know that I have a limit until 48 hours have elapsed. However when I try and set up a payment greater than this limit to the payee for next week I am not allowd to do this. The payment is scheduled for more than 48 hours in the future but BoI will not allow me to do this. It's my money and I want to send it to this payee in over 48 hours time. Why will you not let me do this?

You can’t setup a new payee and arrange any payment for greater than €1k for 48 hours full stop. You’ve added the payee (and if not do) then in 48 hours setup the payment. Ez!

I've set up the new payee. I thne trid to srt up a payment for next week, more than 48 hours after the new payee has been set up but it won't let me do this. I will not have access to internet next week so I need to do this now. It satisfies the criteria but I am not allowed to do this.

When you set up a new payee, the security feature will be in place for the next 48 hours. For this length of time the limit for this payee will be 1k.

You can only set up a limit greater to this using the future payments option after the 48 hours has passed.

No, it doesn’t.

you’re not really understanding what I’m saying, for 48 hours you cannot setup ANY payment above the limit whether it’s for a week in the future or a month. It doesn’t matter. It’s not about when the payments due to be sent.

Hello

This is really difficult. I understand the need for the 48 hour delay before a payment exceeding the daily limit can be made. But in my case I will not have internet access and this payment needs to be made by Februay 8th at 3 pm. Now I am not asking for this payment to be made within the 48 hours so surely it should be allowed when I have specified a payment date after the 48 hour period. Otherwise I cannot make this payment and will suffer penalties. I also cannot get any body from BoI to speak to me as after waiting in a queue for over 45 minutes the line went dead.

I understnd what you are saying but there is nothing on the app or from BoI saying this. All it says is that there is a daily limit for the first 48 hours which is fair enough. But there needs to be a facility that allows customers to select a date beyond that for amounts that exceed the daily limit.

Why is that so? It would be in direct contradiction to the security procedure in the first place. I really don’t understand why it’s such a problem to add the payee & then in 48 hours log back in & arrange the payment.

Because I will not be able to access the internet next week. So to my mind if I select a date 48 or 72 hours from now as the payment date I don't see why the money cannot be transferred then without being a security issue. Anyway going to close the account and go with another bank who use facial recognition which is more secure in any case. Cheers.
