Not sure. I wasnt spending enough to get it. I'll be trialing out gels over the coming months for planned May marathon so I figured id just get a mix from the site today and test them out. If they work out great, if not I have plenty of running buddies who'll use them.

Got a pair of NB Fuelcell Prism V2 on thegaastore.com for €52 including postage! Great price. Limited sizes available when I ordered. Some good deals on that site. Now to see what they're like.

Are there ever deals on Brooks shoes? I like their Ghost but I've never seen it reduced. Seems to be €140 everywhere.

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,306 ✭✭✭ariana`

Very rare to see Brooks Ghosts reduced. I got 10% off once in The Edge in Cork (you can order online). You can get the 13 here with 10% off.

You could check out Elverys Buy 1 get the 2nd half-price, they may be included in that promotion.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,700 ✭✭✭rovers_runner

They are kind of like Kayanos, when people have more money and sense why reduce the prices.

Those types of shoe keep independent sports retailers above board, that's why most new small retailers stopped selling Adidas and Nike, there is margin on them.

Hoka and Brooks are the trendy new lines and people are throwing daft money at them.

I'd say the reason most small independent retailers stopped doing Adidas and Nike was more to do with minimum orders.

A friend of mine was work in a small store, he said it was nigh on impossible to order from Nike

    Thanks @ariana` and @rovers_runner .

Ariana, Ghost are not included in Elverys "Buy one get guy second half price" promotion, which simply reinforces the point you make in your reply. Thanks for the link to the 10% off.

rovers_runner, I'm not looking to buy Ghost because they are trendy or new line, I'm buying them because I had a pair a few years ago and for me the were the most comfortable running shoe I've had in years. I am currently alternating between Nike React Infinity and Nike Pegasus, both fine shoes and both obtained in sales at under a €100 each, but I'd still prefer Ghost if the price was right. I'd love to get a pair of Ghosts again, but €140 is a bit of a stretch for me. What would you recommend an an alternative to Ghost that is not in daft money territory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,700 ✭✭✭rovers_runner

You should stick with infinity react as they are going to improve your natural movement due to their more neutral build while still having lot of cushioning and guide rails.

I've moved to them from using ASICS (ended up with ds trainer from kayano to 2000) for over a decade and find them a lot more responsive and provide freedom where ASICS like brooks is design to restrict it in the name of stability.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,306 ✭✭✭ariana`

I had the Ghost 13 and loved them, clocked around 1000 miles on them. It's going to be hard to beat them for daily miles to be honest, a close 2nd for easy runs for me are the Nike React Miler and it can be got a lot cheaper. But they're quite possibly similar enough to the Infinity React which you already have, I'd have to compare the reviews to see the difference(s).

Massive sale on Nike app. Alphaflys for €150 😱

  • Registered Users Posts: 587 ✭✭✭FinnC

I ordered some running gear from sportshoes.co.uk there before Christmas(about€150 worth)delivery was taking forever so I emailed. They apologised and finally got back saying the package was lost and they would send a replacement.

Well you can nearly guess what happened, just now I’ve taken delivery of both packages, the one that was lost and the replacement.. Do I send one back or keep it 🤷‍♂️😀

Btw the tracking number for the one that was lost is still saying it’s in the delivery company sorting hub in the UK.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,733 ✭✭✭Cartman78

I don't see any problem with keeping them tbh....I'm guessing the retailer has already has insurance for lost merch so no harm done in the grand scheme of things imho

I recall some people asking about Brooks deals a while back. Brooks Ghost for 98 quid on 365rider.

That was me asking about the Ghosts @Swashbuckler. Thanks very much. Have you dealt with the 365rider site before. Are they reliable to deal with? Thanks.

Hi everyone. Following on from some of the posts above, I ordered Ghosts from 365rider.com. From the previous posts, most people have had good experiences with no problems dealing with 365Rider. Unfortunately my experience so far has not been so good, so I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same experience as me in the past and did it eventually get resolved OK?

I ordered the shoes on 12 January, got an order confirmation email, with invoice attached (all details correct). The next day I got an email (in Spanish - thanks goodness for Google Translate) with an order tracking number. However when I click on the link in the email to check the status of this shipment I get the following message "We have not found any shipment with this identifier." I tried the link several days in a row, always the same message.

The email contained an email address for 365Riderto be used if I had any questions. On the 20th of January I sent them an email explaining the above. I got an automated reply saying they had received my email and would respond in one or two days. But since then I've heard nothing from them, and needless to say the shoes have not arrived. My credit card has been billed.

Anyone had this kind of problem with them and how did you get it resolved? Even if you have not had a problem anyone with any advice on what to do next. Thanks.

    Hi Tmh,

I have ordered a garmin and a pair of shoes off of them before. Delivery was not the fastest, maybe 2 weeks, but they arrived no issues. I seem to recall that the Spanish courier tracking details emailed to me gave me no useful tracking info either. Unfortunately, I can't recall which courier delivered my orders in Ireland, but I suspect it was GLS or Fastway. EDIT: I just checked, orders ended up being delivered by DPD when it got to these shores....

3 weeks is a long time to wait, but hopefully the order shows up. Disappointing customer service from the sounds of your experience.

I've ordered from them multiple times and never had an issue. Delivery normally took less than two weeks. In one case I got an email from them apologising that a pair of shoes I'd ordered (at a good discount) were out of stock and offering me the latest model at the same price. So hopefully you've just been unlucky and it will get resolved quickly.

I noticed today that they have a chat button on their website. I assumed it would be a Robot, but actually seems to be a real person. They told me ".. there was a logistical problem and apparently you were not contacted. I apologise. Your order has been shipped today, you will receive the tracking link tomorrow and you will receive it with express delivery."

So if all that is followed through on I'll be happy enough.

Speaking of 365Rider, they have some sales coupons on their homepage that may work with certain shoes (the usual asterisk beside the small print). Anywhere from 5 to 15 off depending on the price. Knocked a tenner off an already discounted pair of Speed 2’s I’ve been eyeing up for ages now to have in storage for when the original Speeds die a death! Procrastinating a week before pulling the trigger saves me a small bit. Will keep an eye on it given some of the misadventures listed above, but not in a rush for them either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 541 ✭✭✭tmh106

Happy to report that following on from my online chat with the 365Rider support person, they did follow through perfectly on what he had promised me in the chat. After the chat I received email updates as the order progressed through shipping and, to make up for the delay, the order was delivered via express courier, and arrived today, all present and correct. So I am now the happy owner of a new pair of Ghosts and am a happy camper again. Given the response to my chat with 365Rider I would order from them again. Thanks to all who helped.

Thank you, second pair of runners today.

I got nova blast 2 earlier size 11 and they are half a size too big so hopefully these are just right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,582 ✭✭✭Swashbuckler

Are sportshoes.com still a useful site? I just assumed with brexit that charges wouldn't make it worthwhile.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,086 ✭✭✭BeepBeep67

You just pay what you see, taxes and duties are included in the price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 962 ✭✭✭Unknownability

That's what I was wondering as well but got some comfort from having the option to pay in euro at checkout.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,709 ✭✭✭CR 7

I wonder are they suffering from a shortage of stock(supply chain issues) at the moment? They don't have any running shoes, even non sale ones, in UK13 bar track spikes.

Maybe all the lads with multiple birthday discounts have bankrupted them 😂
