I travelled to the UK a few days ago from Dublin and trying to plan my return. I got exts from three different family members that the PCR testing requirements were going to be relaxed but cant find back-up info for that.

    Anyone have any info?

Yes the PCR/Antigen testing is removed again if you are vaccinated or have recovered with the Cert

I'm heading over to the UK for the weekend. Am I right in thinking that you don't need to test before entering the UK (the "common travel area")? And that you only need to complete a passenger locator form before returning to Ireland? What about a locator form prior to entering the UK? I am triple jabbed, with the EU Covid cert on my phone.

Absolutely nothing going to the UK, coming back to Ireland do the locator form and have your Covid cert ready to show before boarding. You may (or may not) have to show them on the way back into Ireland. Simple as that!

Cheers for that. I was over in September, before the Omicron variant was around, and it was exactly as you said. And no, I wasn't asked for the cert or the locator form when I got back into Knock.

Was your last jab within the past 9 months?

If so your cert is valid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,808 ✭✭✭✭greenspurs

    Im not sure...

If its older than 9 months? what happens ?

Nothing going to the UK, but you will be classed unvaccinated coming back here and require a test if that’s the case.

Its a lot cheaper get the booster than pay for tests, but you need 14 days post booster to be valid

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,808 ✭✭✭✭greenspurs

I will not get the 'booster' ...

    Thanks anyway.

Day return by air to England this Saturday. I returned from a week on the continent on Sunday just gone. Triple jabbed.

Am hoping I just need the PLF for my return to Ireland but fear I need to do a pcr test & UK PLF in advance of the outbound flight.

Any ideas coz I can’t make it out following gvmt sites?

Not sure if anyone will know but I can't find anything online.

Flying into Ireland from the UK.

After the first vaccine a relation was very bad after it and has a letter from a doctor saying they were advised not to get another vaccine.

Anyone know if you can fly in with this situation?

You'll need a test every time you fly to an EU destination for the foreseeable so. Probably elsewhere too soon.

I assume Antigen and not Pcr and just coming into Ireland?

I don't believe any test is needed going into England.

What the situation for unvaxxed 11 year when it comes to a Dubin - Manchester return trip the weekend. Will be traveling with me (Triple Vaxxed)

Are they treated as vaxxed adults and do I only need to upload PLF for Manchester-Dublin Leg?

Your vaccination DCC is valid until the 24th of March so, unless you get boosted in the meantime. Unless you had COVID in the 90 days prior to travel of course, in which case use your recovery DCC.

Both of you need to fill in a PLF for the Manchester to Dublin leg. That is all. The 11 year old is treated as exempt, 12 year olds are not.

What's the logic in keeping the need for tests in the CTA? Keep out Omicron? Think that ship sailed a long time ago.

These testing companies must have good 'connections' with the Irish government. Making a fortune.

All inbound passengers to Ireland are treated the same. We don't make any exemptions for unvaxxed Sasanachs.

    Thanks for the info.

So i dont need anything else?

    Antigen test even ?

You'll need a PLF for your return leg, but no test.

Scuse my ignorance here, but could some enlightened soul advise me….

just reading the above as in going to the UK for three days in March,so am I right in thinking if triple boosted I need just Covid Pass to get into the UK,coming back I need Covid Pass and PLF…stupid question maybe but where does one find/get said PLF??

    Muchas Gracias in advance😊👍

You need absolutely nothing to enter the UK from Ireland

Getting back you need either 2 doses in last 9months or be boosted, or a PCR or a recovery cert + PLF

    Back from UK.

Asked for no proof of any 'vaccination' in either direction.

The majority people i saw in London were not wearing masks.

Heading to Manchester with my 12yr old in March. I have had 2 doses + booster, my son has had 2 doses & 2nd dose was yesterday.

From reading the above, I do not need anything for the flight out.

For the flight home, do I need to do anything. I have the digital cert in my wallet on smartphone since 2nd dose, a letter for the booster.

My son has the HSE paper card showing the 2 doses and the dates but nothing digital.

How “strict” are they in checking coming back in from England? I don’t want the pointless booster but I also don’t want the hassle and cost of equally useless tests Post the 8 months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,808 ✭✭✭✭greenspurs

there was no check of the also pointless PLF coming back to dublin 2 weeks ago .....

    "You are asked to declare:

    • If you have valid proof of vaccination. For the purposes of travel, passengers are considered vaccinated if they have been vaccinated with a product listed below after the recommended number of days after the final dose: Comirnaty, Moderna, AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria or Covishield), Janssen, Coronavac (Sinovac), SinoPharm BIBP, Covaxin, and Novavax.
    • If you have evidence of a negative/not-detected PCR COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival.

    Verification details

To complete the passenger locator form, you need to provide your email address. We will send you a verification code that you can enter to log in and complete the form. A passenger when completing a passenger locator form can include up to 7 children details on one form. In this instance, the email address of the lead passenger should be provided."

It is the airlines responsibility to check, Aer Lingus certainly make it impossible to check in online unless you have completed the form and the app scans the QR code on the PLF and EU DCC.

Documents checked at the desk if you opt for manual

Please note that on flights to Ireland, to and from the USA, and to other selected countries in Europe, you cannot check in online unless you have completed the VeriFLY process.

Any talk of this stupidity being dropped? And any experience whether Ryanair are scanning Covid passes? Mine is due to ‘run out’ this month, had a horrible reaction so not getting a booster. I can live here, but I can’t freely re-enter my own country. When is common sense coming back?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,885 ✭✭✭Bogwoppit

I traveled over to the uk yesterday and back today with Ryanair, nobody asked for anything.

I’ve flew from the UK loads of times and sometimes they will ask for your covid cert getting on the plane but they don’t really check it thoroughly. Sometimes they ask do you have your passenger locator form filled out but they don’t actually check it.

I’ve never had anything checked in Dublin Airport and I’ve been through at least 10 times. I never once filled out a passenger locator form

There's no logic. It's just a nice way of coercing the population to play ball and take the booster. Doesn't matter if mounting evidence proves it's unnecessary. Doesn't matter if you believe it's a personal choice. Doesn't matter if you've had Covid and are naturally immune (lasts longer than 6 months). Doesn't matter if you were sick as dog for a few days after both shots and developed Myocarditis symptoms after the second one. Just take the **** booster and don't question the logic. That's the message.
