Not paid to think, only paid to spot it. Was he taken down, yes or no, footage shows yes, tell ref. It's not complicated, today we saw them play football God. Not right!

I'm not sure why people are saying Burnley should be a few up? We've had two of the better chances (Pope save to the bottom corner from Naby and same again from Mane), could have had a penalty and have scored.

Burnley have had three chances, two were simple saves from Alison with one of those shots coming from miles out. They've beat the offside trap twice and failed to hit the target on both occasions.

I just can't see how they deserve to be a couple up.

Also the commentators on my stream keep saying that Burnley have been unlucky to have been called offside a few times. You're either offside or not, there's no luck in it.

How can Atkinson not see the handball there?!?

    Mother of God

Yes, this "play on" attitude to offside now gives the false impression that the defending team is lucky not to be giving goals away. Pre-VAR, the lino would be calling offside on Burnley repeatedly, they don't get even a sniff of the goal, and the commentators would be praising Liverpool's excellent offside trap.

They're not chances if they'd be ruled out by VAR on offside review.

need to get stuck in on these and need another goal quick...

Front 3 not at the races today so far.. conditions are poor for playing a passing game though.... suits Burnley's long ball approach though

need to quieten this home crowd down again...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,105 ✭✭✭mada999

our counter ruined by another poor pass there by naby.... played it behind the runner instead of ahead... we seem to do it all the time.....

    need another goal here :(

Burnley gonna get one more chance....

Just looking at SofaScore stats, Henderson had a passing accuracy of 50% - Keita and Fabinho both over 80%

Absolutely superb game management in the last 15-20 minutes.

The midfield 3 completely in control. Thought Keita was very good,

Wasn't a great performance but they dogged it out and got the result. We move on.

Thank **** that match is out of the way.

Fab, Thiago & Naby Lad showed why they should be the main three in midfield in those last 34 minutes.

Hendo's form has sadly dropped off a cliff since he signed his new contract.

Dogged performance, great control from the midfield. Attention switches to Inter now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,489 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Massive win, it's a awful place to go and get 3pts. !

I think Thiago just has to play when we fit. We are so much more comfortable when he is on the field...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,202 ✭✭✭✭paulie21

Not one that will live long in the memory bank but a wins a win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

    Crap game but great win

Burnley had only lost 8 before today the same as Westham there not easy to beat, they just rarely win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,612 ✭✭✭eigrod

Very comfortable 2nd half. Professional performance all round and great 3 points. Naby played really well today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,929 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

9 behind City with 5 worse off on goal difference and 1 game in hand.

7 points clear of Chelsea and 12 goals better with same games played.

Hopefully win the game in hand and the Champions League starting back City's focus might shift a bit towards that as well.

I've forgotten about that game already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,489 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

We've done what what only one other team has done this season, take 3pts from Turf Moor. Could be vital come end of season. City have to go there, and it's 80% a draw.

I totally agree and think he's great.

I still got pissed off when he tried the same cross twice and both times it ended up in our half.

Love to see him in games like that though

Norwich next at home, a chance for a goal fest. Need to get GD sorted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,612 ✭✭✭eigrod

3 home games in league now. 8 out of our 14 games left are at Anfield. An outside chance, but a chance nonetheless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,734 ✭✭✭Fowler87

Agreed scruffy 3 points. Hopefully our last game against that shower for a long time. Bring on yer Internazionale now 😎

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,104 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

That game was very Burnley away. Scrappy. Windy, wet. Out of play. In the air. Foul. Set piece. And repeat.

Take the win and move on.

Thought Keita was very good, neat and tidy. When Thiago came on, he just controlled the game. Stopped Burnley playing any bit and took the stint out of the game.

Would like to see a Fabinho Keita Thiago midfield again at some point.

    This.

Completely forgettable game, our control over the latter period was brilliant in trying circumstances, Thiago made a huge difference.

    3 points, onto Inter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 775 ✭✭✭patsy sally

As been said forgettable game but very good 3 points as they are tough too play against..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,417 ✭✭✭.G.

An awful game but a great three points. As mentioned Thiago changed the game when he came in, we completely controlled it from then on. Hendo unfortunately is becoming a bit of a problem, he's not as mobile as he was and his form has fallen off a cliff as a result.

Our best midfield three no longer includes him.

Tand to agree about Henderson alright. He took a heavy knock to his knee, but even before that he wasn't great, and was downright poor after it.

Looking at the table now, Chelsea are being dragged towards the chasing pack and it’s very much just the familiar top 2 of ourselves and City. At one point I had Chelsea down as slight title favourites when it looked like Lukaku was the final piece of the puzzle but they’ve proven to be no threat at all.

We’re in the title race, no point in denying it. It’s very unlikely we’ll win it, but if City have one more off day than we do before we play them, it’s very much there to fight for.

Even though the Premier League title doesn’t look to be on the cards, if we won the league cup and one more trophy, I’d consider it a good season, as long as that other trophy is 74cm tall and lifted in St. Petersburg. 😉

I'd be happy with two cups and finishing second in the league. I'd consider that a good season after last season.

Obviously want to win the league but don't think it's possible at this stage but who knows. Just can't see city dropping many points maybe the odd draw that'll be about it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,644 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

Just a word again on Allison today, he was brilliant. Such a comfort to have him there, made covering behind the high line look so easy.

    What a player.

Im like a broken heart record but Allison showed again today why he should 100 % be starting the league cup final

Quite literally improving Chelsea chances of winning by not starting him

    Madness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,104 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

I'm not giving up on the league just yet, even though it does look unlikely.

As mentioned, just need one slip up by City before the game in April, and keep winning our own games in between, to give that opportunity. Even without City dropping points before that game, it is possible that the gap is only 3 points after that game.

But, again, that depends on winning every game up until then. Can only concentrate on that and see what happens with City.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,041 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

I'd still see the league as fully on - like, City are great, but City are always great, that's just a given. As it stands, if they lose ONE GAME against any of the other teams, then it's in Liverpools hands. And yeah, that does pretty much mean us having to win just about every game, but that's also become a given on the run in to win this league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,843 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

I just can't see the slipping up more than we will

If the do lose points itll be the likes of Palace awat, Wolves away & Westham

Can't t see Spurs or United getting anything from them
