Don't worry, there will be a small army (excuse the pun) of posters along any minute now to request verifiable evidence of these wild assertions.

Because they're all about the evidence and facts around these parts.

You just wait and see. Any minute now.... 😂

Vs posters who repeatedly post bs they made up and then run away

  • Registered Users Posts: 858 ✭✭✭jolivmmx

And how will certain posters justify the cyberattacks?

So the invasion of 2022 that never was and was never going to be..where are the lads here who knew it all based on their 'travels' in the East, they knew best, they had their finger on the pulse, insights from US 'intelligence' the willing victims of propaganda.....Those of us who disputed the propaganda from day 1 were 'Russian bots', 'Putin supporters', 'fascist sympathisers', 'whataboutery merchants', 'know nothings' etc., etc when all along we were right!

    I almost feel sorry for @Yurt! and @Gatlinboy @shillyshilly and the rest...almost! 🙂

Scholz seems to be auditioning to be the adult in the room. The US, Europe and NATO as a whole are not going to fight for Ukraine. Biden has stated this. And the sight of all Western embassy staff and military advisors fleeing the country this week even whilst the Russians continue to insist they have no intent to invade Ukraine has shown the reality of it. So Germany, and Europe as a whole, lose absolutely nothing by trading something they don't care about (Ukrainian demands against Russia) for something they do care about (peace in Europe, easy access to cheap energy).

And this is not necessarily to Ukraine's disadvantage. The US "defence" of Ukraine has amounted to a hysterical war scare which has only succeeded in sparking an economic collapse of the country as investors and oligarchs flee. To the point that even the Ukrainians are begging their "allies" to calm down. Which they refuse to do because its not about Ukraine. Meanwhile the Russian interests are merely that Ukraine does not join NATO or otherwise align against Russia's security, and respects the Russian ethnic minority. So they too can trade nothing (NATO membership) for something (grounds for economic prosperity and actual physical security). I understand that Russia doesn't even necessarily object to Ukrainian membership of the EU.

The smart course for everyone - Ukraine, Russia, US, NATO, EU - is clear. We must all hope that the news cycle of the past 4 months (West warns Russia not to invade Ukraine, Russia says it does not plan to invade Ukraine, repeat to tedium) ends and Germany starts to knock some heads together to find the right solution.

All that said, I do not think that the backers of the current "Ukrainian crisis" are at all concerned with Ukraine or it's interests. The target is and always has been Nordstream 2. Same as it was with the supposed Navalny assassination in 2020. For whatever reason there is a faction in the US which has identified Nordstream 2 as a critical threat to their interests and they are willing to do whatever it takes to prevent it coming online. Don't be surprised if the US decides to launch an Iranian style sanction regime against Germany if the "Ukrainian Invasion" scare joins the "Navalny Assassination" attempt in the dustbin of history.

So are you saying that the German chancellor has no say on how Germany is represented in NATO?

Every country has a veto as all members need to agree.

Scholtz 100% has a say on how Germany decides, the same way Merkel wouldn’t agree to fast tracking Ukraine’s membership.

No idea but I'm sure some people will always find an excuse.

Biden's press briefing wasn't very informative. Mostly just stating the U.S. is not trying to destabilise Russia, the Russian people are not their enemy and if Russia decides to invade, there will be consequences. Did not answer any questions at all, just walked out.

I thought it was 100k troops, then someone said it was 150k. You're saying 170k. Double is saying the "entire" military. What's it to be now?

    Anyone verify this?

Edit: cant find more on this anywhere. Going to say fake.

It means that all western talk was complete horsesh!t.

If the Russians are pulling back it's because a bunch of puffs in Brussels made a phone call and asked "Mr putin, can you get us out of this embarrassing standoff and not make us look like total ****?"

I see a US Drone is over Ukraine keeping a eye on things

So you don't want a war? Fantastic, so zero people want a war, then a war should not happen and we will all be happy.

I don't think anyone cares whether Russian leadership gives a **** about western judgement really. What they expect is for them to adhere to the norms of international law, like not invading your neighbour.

As for right and wrong being irrelevant, sure whatever, one man's right is another's wrong. What matters are international agreements, laws and trust. Even if you believe that those laws were simply written by those at the top of geopolitics(even though everyone including Russia has a seat at the table in the un for example), so what? What does it matter? With laws and order you have security and safety for individuals to prosper and a predictable future. Would you prefer if the world order was unpredictable? A predictable and secure future backed by laws and agreements reduces conflict, saving the lives of countless innocent people. Would you propose a kind of free for all? Because we had that.

It's funny how argumentative a thread can be when it appears that noone here believes that Russia would be justified in further invading Ukraine.

  • Registered Users Posts: 515 ✭✭✭TheTruth89

The thing i find most odd is you have people backing the invasion and justifying it i think people have a naïve view of war these days. Hopefully good sense prevails and there is no invasion.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

So the Russians are still there .....

But according to some on here there not there at all , despite the Russians saying yes we're there

    ...

    Memo must have been lost

  • Registered Users Posts: 559 ✭✭✭BurgerFace

The Ukrainians see the Russians as their mates, cousins, neighbours. Like the Irish and the Scots. If you want to find out how terrified the Ukraine is of a Russian invasion then get online and talk to so.e people

I am genuinely fearful that a potential war may take place…

A lot of ordinary lives will be destroyed. Why can people never be happy with what they have. Why must they always seek more…

Biden still at it...not happy at all, needs this to continue, the poll numbers still very low!

Yes, millions of humans working day and night to murder millions of other humans because of some abstract identity or political issues that have no impact on the lives of the vast majority. Yet we will have the fantasist talking about war as if its nothing. Instead of showing kids images of the D day landing or whatever, they should show them the cannibalism, the rape, the disfigurement, the burns and of course the children that simple starved to death.
