Sheared wheel bolt

    Hi

I left the car (09 Vectra) in earlier to get the tyres changed. When I picked it up, yer man handed me the bolt and said it had been sheared; essentially claimed that it had been like that before they handled it. I didn't really argue with him. The last time the bolts would have been off it would have been ~ a year ago when I was changing a brake pad myself and they were fine.

When I try to the screw in the broken bolt now, it doesn't catch on the thread at all which makes me think that if it had been like this when I dropped it in, the bolt would have fallen out ages ago. As such, it happened when they were removing it.

I appreciate that they probably didn't do anything particularly wrong when removing the bolt, preumably it had a weakness in it to shear off like that but should they just be washing their hands of it like this or taking partial responsibility?

    TIA
