What are you on about. Fact is he didn't play a minute in any of their three previous matches versus WIT, DCU and UCC in the fitzgibbon.

Any truth in Liam Moore taking himself off the U20 panel and Ciarain Wallace off the senior. In Moore's case,he's a big loss if true.....size, athletic and plenty of hurling in him.

Yes regarding the young boro man. Apparently not enjoying it was the reason

  • Registered Users Posts: 664 ✭✭✭Marrooned

Is Liam Moore representing himself or his club. What club has captaincy this year ,still in a case of confusion after covid.

Have heard bad vibes about the u20 panel, and it's been noted over the last 2 years also on here.......Anyone hear that Richie Leahy done his hamstring again?? Very tough luck if true.

wh the f... is gone wrong in this county.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,733 ✭✭✭Grats

There is no dynamic leader on the County Board. Just all nodding heads and the club reps are allowing it to continue. Those on the various committees are there because nobody opposes them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,039 ✭✭✭PeggyShippen

Very hard to change the dynamic on a county board when it's gone stale. Clare is the same. Change is coming because things went so bad. The county board is actually being bi passed by dynamic business people and the county is starting to develope again. They are a long way back from Limerick across the border. Again their county board had to be bypassed ..

No one on the Co Board is gonna push for change when it would mean that they would/could be pushed out.

The status quo will remain as long as clubs reps, and clubs themselves accept this and dont demand change.

Precisely. It really is down to the clubs. They can make the change required.

See it with our own club nobody at the top table has a clue about moving forward or if anything is said the person that says it is bullied so much they feel the only option is to get out. These people then are going to Co Board meetings.

Richie Reid is the new captain and eoin cody vice captain. I wonder will Richie be tried at 6?He has being tried nearly everywhere I suppose. Will cody build for the future and presist will brassil. Playing laois at home they should be winning that but the last two games are the last of the proper games until the 3rd round of the championship against galway so the match Sunday will probably be the last of the experimental teams and he'd need to have a good idea after the Dublin and Waterford games who he has going into the championship.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,039 ✭✭✭PeggyShippen

Well there's the county board faction in Clare and then the other side that supported and supports Lohans management. These people highlighted the huge deficiencies in Clare and set about getting reports done...and outside people did that. Then the report had to be accepted by the GAA..then these business people offered to do jobs ,made new posts and don't ask for a wage. So weather the county board knows it or not there's a separate group ..Lohan has almost nothing to do with the County board.

That sounds like a disaster though, definitely not a model to emulate. If people want change they need to force it starting in their own club and who their delegates are. Hoping a pack of business types will come and save the day by setting up a separate faction isn't realistic and isn't even a good idea.

The ballyhale lads won't be back this weekend. This will be probably the last match he'll experiment. The Dublin match next Saturday and the Waterford one after a weeks break will give us a better idea of where we are at and hopefully a settled team heading into the championship.

I know it's an experimental team and all but why move Deegan out of the middle of the field. Our 3rd different centre back in 3 games I think? After starting midfield the first two games? Give Brassil another go at 6 and continue to let Deegan get used to midfield. It's like they've decided PW is our centre forward now and we're scratching around going to try everyone at 6 and come Leinster championship they'll just shove PW back there anyway.

I'm a huge Donnelly fan but he's never an intercounty midfielder in the modern game. Great hands, great hurler but just doesn't have the athleticism/strength for it.

I thought Cody had finally accepted that Deegan isn't a back. Awful selection.

Waterford put up 7-31 against Laois, surely we need to put up a big score too? I just can't see it happening, probably scrape home with an unimpressive 6 point win

Is Huw Lawlor injured or did he just not make the final cut?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,747 ✭✭✭brookville

Alot of lads injured with hamstring injuries and with the championship in a few weeks no one will be risked.

James Burke done well at 3 in the Walsh Cup I thought he might of got a run tomorrow. Tommy had a terrible experience in the Walsh Cup at 3. I agree that we should leave brassil at 6 and give him a chance but he could be a better option on the wing. I think we will see Richie Reid at 6 for the last 2 games. The league is surely the time to try things. I wouldn't get bogged down with the team selection either. We all know the day of players playing where selected is gone. Players are so fluid now positions mean nothing. At least we have a free taker tomor it was madness going to thurles without a free taker. Donnelly and Kenny don't even take them for their club.We definitely won't hammer anyone with this team but hopefully blanchfield,Kenny and Tom phelan stay improving.

Finally wasn't at the u21 match today but listening to a bit of it Liam Moore was very very good and caused darragh corcoran plenty of problems. This lad got trials with the seniors at the start of the year and is a good hurler. Our u20s can't afford to be without a lad like him.Mikey Walsh done a very good job with alot of younger players. These lads need to kick on over the next few years and not like previous good underage boro teams.although the boro are the last team to win since shamrocks they've underachied.

A fabulous win for the Boro in really blustery conditions. We've won the previous 2 minors and this year they won the minor, U19 and U21 a fabulous achievement for the club. It was particularly nice to beat Ballyhale in the final not that we've any great beef with them but their so good at winning once they get to finals it was great to see it out.

The Boro started with the wind and took a little while to get going but soon they imposed themselves on the game. They were 0-8 to 0-3 up after about 20 mins and Ballyhale hadn't scored in a long time when Dean Mason hit a high ball from his own 65 into the edge of the square, Padraig Moylan secured it but was dispossessed on the way out and the corner forward Devereaux I think pulled on it to the back of the net. The Boro settled down again after that and saw out the half 0-12 to 1-04. The Boro squandered a couple of goal chances in the first and second half and a great diaplay out of Dean Mason kept them in it.

Ballyhale started the second half the brighter with Eoin Cody causing a bit of havoc and within a few minutes of the restart Ballyhale were 2-06 to 0-13 but they couldn't catch the Boro and they stretched their legs again playing nice hurling, feeding the corner forwards with nice diagonal and other times low ball out in front. The quieten Ballyhale the Boro had to bringing Padraig Moylan back from midfield to play as a spare man in defence. This worked very well and allowed Timmy Clifford to bomb forward from CB. Liam Moore played very well throughout as did Aaron Treacy Murphy, James Carroll, Mark Nolan and Harry Shine there were plenty of other good performances including Niall Rowe and FB and the Boro back 6 as whole did very well. Against the wind the Boro got 1-12 and Ballyhale could only manage 1-08. Finished 1-24 to 2-12

Lets see how these lads progress over the next few years and hopefully they can at least make the Boro more consistent and winners at senior but hopefully a few might get a run with the county although we don't seem to be flavour of the month with our underage teams even with the success they've had. Hopefully Liam Moore might go back to the county setup because in that form he would be a huge bonus to any team.

All these Boro successes from Feile up to today have been with Mickey Walsh and it's amazing he's never been brought back into the Kilkenny underage setups seeing as he's the last manager to win an U21 with a KK team. Is it because he'd want to play the game his own way and not Cody's?

Are they going with three goalies this year on the senior panel, or is Darren Brennan injured Dunphy is called in for cover.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,029 ✭✭✭tbiggertycome

Heard Dean Mason has been called in too, not before time in my opinion. No doubt one or two of the keepers will be dropped by the end of the league.

Ffs- Nickey Brennan speaking up against going back to under 18 and under 21 championships at Congress. When was the last time Nickey was involved with a team at this age. He may no longer be involved with kilkenny gaa (I'm not sure) but their is too many of yesterday's men with so much influence within the county.

4 points up at halftime. Much better performance than the last match here. Billy Ryan scored 3 points from play and is very dangerous when the ball is hit for him to run onto. Tom Phelan has made some dangerous runs with the ball and scored a great goal. Play is varied although there is a little overuse of diagonal passes. Michael Carey needs to use the ball better from the short puck outs. On the negative side Brassil had a torrid time at right half back, was 2nd to nearly every puckout.

Laois were very poor in the second half. Padriag Walsh didn't play today. Billy Ryan was very dangerous. Tom phelan took the goals well. He's direct and has pace. The next two matches will be good tests before the championship and we'll have a better idea of where we're at. Pity heary went off injured he was doing well. We must have alot of lads out injured at the moment although no one will be risked with the championship so close. The ballyhale lads will probably be back next weekend minus tj obviously
