Could do with a change in fortunes.. winner is badly wanting.

    5.30 Kempton

An apprentice race this. Think I have two good picks here, and I believe there's not a whole lot to be concerned about from the rest of them..

ESPRESSO FREDDO 14s with bet365 ew NAP,,, is a C & D winner from as recently as last December. Is drawn in stall 3, which is good. Likes to be held up, and can get from a to b in a fast time. Mollie Phillips has ridden ~ 30 winners, so no probs on the jockey score.

TRICOLORE 8/1 gen ew NB,,, is in a good run of form recently, and can boast two wins and a second from his last four outings, which were at Wolves over trips of the extended mile and 9 1/2 furlongs. Has only had the one run at the course, and that resulted in a very good 2nd place finish, when he ran over C & D in September of 2020 - fast enough time that race was ran in too. Very versatile in how he's ridden, and, being drawn in stall 9, one would hope he'd be held up.. the jockey Christian Howarth appears very capable too, and claims 3lbs here.

Was worried about Uzincso - on account of his trainer John Butler. Difficult to see him win however, as he has a big enough weight to carry here. Is drawn wide in 8; and though this might not hinder him from getting to front, nor indeed from chasing the leaders as he likes to do, I doubt the wide draw will help his cause.

Dynakite may not be far away, but he has enough to prove being stepped up in grade. Is a two time C & D winner however, and will have a light enough weight to carry, and is impossible to discount here, but not for me at likely prices. Will draw a line through Baldomero too, as is his first race in England, and he's never raced beyond 7fs either. Should have his supporters but I think he's more a seven furlongs horse..

One I think may be vulnerable insofar as making the frame goes,, won't be rushing to stick him in each way multiples anyroad. Goes by name of May Night and is not guaranteed to stay, I feel, in this race... can see him being possibly involved inside the last furlong, but fading at the end..

Proclaimer completed the C & D hattrick last October, and followed that up with a win over the mile at Newcastle. He was beating mainly horses rated in the 60s in those four races, which were Class 5s and 6s.. Unlikely to get an uncontested lead here either, if that's the tactic.. Would be an unlikely winner regardless, and another, like May Night, who could finish out t'places..

Things I do for my boards' homies... prob be crying intee me coffee tomorrow morn when I see prices.. reckon the 2 picks be a lot shorter.. tis their current prices wat makes em nap + nb qualifiers.. ah well. ,, Le Sigh in anticipation 😫

Cards look tricky,, those will do me for now

    GL all : )

    Slate house 3.35 lud

    Earlofthecotswold 8.00 kemp (f)

    And

    The getaway star 1.00 punch

Backing these 3 tomorrow based on past glories. Wouldn't be overly bullish on any of them but a small cut for interest.

    I've just copped Mr Saxobeat (14.05 Punchestown) is a juicy 7/1 on Bet365... 4/1 & 5/1 elsewhere.

Ramillies is chancy and not sure the ground will be ideal. Mr. Saxobeat, on the other hand, certainly won't mind a good mud wrestle.

The Waltzer should certainly be well in it but given the prices, I'm obliged to have a nibble on Saxo.

    😂 😅

supposed to be a good film,, never saw it tho,, summit about that word: 'notebook' ,, i dinna what it is 😁

stop off at Eason's tomorrow anyroad,, "do you want any help" :- "yes, i want a notebook for including some four legged racing prospects ta, what shaped well previously " 🙃

should be fine, i suppose they're used to being asked those kind o questions.. I'll not accept any ole notebook mind - but i'll have to do a recce regardless,, ur no kind of a punter if ya don't have a 'notebook' it would seem 😭

    4.45 Ludlow

2 picks here.. one a shorty, and the other at a bigger price.

I can't see the fav Majestic Merlin 15/8 win here.. nothing in the formbook (doubt he's in many notebooks neither 😊) is telling me he looks likely.. might run a good race and go close,,, has no discernible running style afaic see... best guess: he wants holding up, and may be seen to better effect over further than the ~2m here...

Looks like the former Irish-trained Herenord 5/1 wants better ground.

Starvoski ~ 4/1 has won over 2m on soft, but has flopped in his two chase outings to date. Those were in Class 4s, and today he partakes in a Class 5. Regardless of the class drop, he doesn't look like one what warrants inclusion in any notebooks, or even scrapbooks.. 😆

That covers most of the principals - bar one, who's one o' t'picks..

    FOLLY GATE 7/2 PP/Boyles/Lads win

Will be having his 5th chase start, and 3rd in a Class 5. No worldshaker, but a case can be made for him based on his second last run, when he came 2nd over 2m at Warwick on heavy.

    INGEBORG ZILLING 20/1 PP/Boyle/Lads ew

Going each way, cos is an each way price. Sharper form students might consider her a win only prospect, based on her having never really gone close so far in her six races under rules, and maybe they'd be right. Those sharpies might want 25/1+ to consider her an each way prospect. Reasoning behind her chances is based on her 2nd last hurdles' run. She ran well for a long time over a further distance then, which was in a hurdles' outing at the course, and then the tank seemed to empty. Her first run in a chase today, so that's a bit of an unknown too, as well as how she'll do in a 2m race, as opposed to travelling well for about 2 miles in a 2m 5f race.. should like soft ground anyhow, and there's no obvious reasons to be too enthusiastic about the claims of the rest of the participants, so Sheila Lewis' 6yr old deserves a vote here.

    😊

Burning Victory (13.00 Punchestown) - evens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,186 ✭✭✭standardg60

    Newcastle 1.30.

Not convinced by any at the top of the betting here, so having a tentative bet on Ravenscar at 9/1. Was out of form when last seen on the flat but won a hurdles race this month. Mares tend to get into a run of form when on song so hopefully she continues with Kevin Stott back on board (1 win and 2 places from 5 rides on her).

  • Posts: 13,688 ✭✭✭✭ Elisa Fluffy Ketchup

    Sorry, wasn't on at evens.

    I was on at 1/2.

I had a different post written out and forgot to change the odds.

Message Personnel (14.15 Doncaster) was my original post.

    3.00 A DISTANT PLACE 6/1

Best of luck with A Distant Place AhFrayedknot ! have no bet myself, but I think Vocal Duke could also go well in that race, at a similar price to yours.. a good win 2 runs ago is good looking form. GL

Hit the bar hopefully this finds the net Via dolorosa

    10/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,186 ✭✭✭standardg60

Think Slate House has a great chance in the 3.35 Ludlow at 5/1, just sneaks into this off top weight, Freddie Gingell one of the better amateurs around.

Goes in the next at Ludlow that Via Dolorosa..

was looking at that race and tried to convince myself to back I K Brunel,, couldn't fancy him enough,, is drifting a bit too.

He was promising a couple of years ago Slate House,, recent form is not as great, but he's well down in weights from ~ 2yrs ago, and is youngish at ten

Cafe Pushkin was just beaten by Flying Nun who won again yesterday lto giving her nearly a stone. Worth a bet for me at 8/1

4.45 Majestic Merlin looks a lay bet here on his current price,, best priced at 13/8, I'd have him a lay at up to 15/8.. must be showing something at home, as none of his three chase runs to date have been anything special.. came third a while back over ~ C & D in a hurdle race, which is ok as far as course form goes, but does look a deal underpriced to me anyroad.

have no high hopes for my pick Folly Gate BP 7/2, and won't be seeing that race anyway, but I think he's one of a few who could well beat the jolly.. and Ingeborg - almost forgot about her 😃- could be the interesting one here at a decent price,,, round 18s available atm

don't have station, and don't fancy going back to ye shoppe,, awful depressing place them,,, would go to pub and watch it but ever since this shamdemic I've gotten out a venturing to the taverne,, might have to wean meself back 😂

think I'll stick with snooker and just check results by the by.. GL all :)

Did you see the 3:45 Newcastle - Internationalangel made the rest of the field, all 4 of them, look like stationary, won well eased off 6 in the row now.

didn't see it.. Hope ya backed it j@utis 🙂 just looked at the form now, and 4/1 looked a big big price beforehand! ,, going on Chelly form anyhoo 😊

I'm on May Night 4/1 in the opener in Kempton. He's now back down in class4 after two unsuccessful spins in class2, presuming an extra furlong won't cause much inconvenience, he's should go close under 7lb claimer jockey tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,065 ✭✭✭j@utis

nope 😫 I wished! Drifted like a barge, was fav last night, but scored like odds on shot.

pity that.. ya deserves a winner j .. u was poorly yesterday,, hope you're recovering not too bad anyroad j@utis 😊

just looked at results,, none o' me two picks oblige.. Folly Gate done win and came third, and the ew one, nowhere : (

ah forget it! Another day - another story. PP is paying 4 places in 7pm Kempton, I'm off to find my winner there 🤣

best of luck in that one 🙂 them sprint races on the AW very tricky! takes a lot of study those,, think I prefer the 7f races even to them - well today anyway, as that particular race looks very competitive 🤔

Think Tyger Bay has solid place claims at almost an ew price in 7 0'c ,, and Sir Gregory is pretty interesting as a win bet in the same race,, not unobvious ones, granted.. race is way too competitive to try to find a live one imo.. will be far easier races to solve than that one!

Only the one place for me today... the wait goes on ☹️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,186 ✭✭✭standardg60

Rajmeister has to be better than his current mark in the 6.00, whether tonights the night is another question

seems a reasonable price anyhow,, worth a few shillings on the nose, that Rajmeister,, if I was in the shop I'd have ~ €3 win on him,, be happy enough to collect, and not too pushed if he lost/flopped.. Will surely win soon enough - at some trip or other you'd imagine... not looked at any of the rest of them,, Rajmeister's second last run, which was his first in hcap is interesting, and a line can be drawn through last run obvs, as was slow to stride plus keengoing as well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,186 ✭✭✭standardg60

Ran well but needs to settle better, would like to see him over six furlongs.

Critical thinking small e/w bet in the 6.30

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,065 ✭✭✭j@utis

That one was tipped by Hugh Taylor on ATR, hence the market support, goes into notebook but has to be backed early before HT wakes up and put him as his tip nto.

May Night goes down the drain in the first in Kempton, I chose to side Durdle Door in 7pm race, I liked her run back in December when beating Patsy Pagan, both drew clear of the pack. Next time she was out to lead and burned out early in class 3 contest, tonight's wide draw might offer some cover at the start to come through at the line. GL. That's my 2-aday today, enough is enough (this hobby is not paying for itself anymore).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,065 ✭✭✭j@utis

Nearly got that spot on, leff. My pick Durdle Door turned first half of the race into the wrestling match and had nothing left to show in the second half.

No joy today, my crystal ball definitely needs some polishing 😅
