Ryanair have cancelled the first leg of our two flight journey - update

Ryanair have cancelled our flight from Kalamata-Vienna for June. They are offering a refund for that flight. Can we get a refund on the Vienna-Dublin flight? It’s no good to us now. Their website doesn’t seem to offer an option for cancelling the second leg of the journey.

Did you book the whole thing as one "trip" with Ryanair?

Well the two flights were booked in one session on the Ryanair website, I’m not sure they’d be classified as one trip though 🤔

And they’re on the same day, with a three hour wait in Vienna.

Ryanair are a point to point airline so each flight is independent of the other; however I'm not sure how that works if booked on the same booking

Ryanair have agreed to refund the second leg Vienna-Dublin as they deemed it to be a connecting flight. It was painless in the end 😁

Just to confirm.. you made two seperate bookings, but still got your money back?

Yes, booked separately, but as part of a connected journey, Kalamata-Vienna-Dublin. I dealt with a person via chat, and asked are you sure I’ll get a refund and she replied that yes, they viewed it as a continuous journey, A-B:B-C is how she wrote it in chat. Both amounts have now been deposited in my Ryanair wallet, which I can withdraw and refund against my payment card.

BUT, other members of the group who were travelling together are not having the same success so far. One has been told over the phone that no refund will be given for Vienna-Dublin. Another couple got one flight refunded, but not the other person’s. I’ll post an update if we all get our money back.

Ryanair do in fact sell connecting flights via a handful of hubs and have done so for several years

Everyone got their refunds for Vienna-Dublin. Amazement all round, I still can’t believe it 😁.
