An old F-4 or indeed a spitfire would do us since geography is pur greatest defence. Anybody that is going to be fit to reach us is going to gain air superiority anyways. That money would be much better spent on an air-transport, maritime patrol and possibly something like a couple old Super Tucanos for CAS on peacekeeping missions.

I have to hold my hands up. I repeatedly said thatRussia wouldn’t Invade past Donetsk and Luhansk. I was wrong. I think it’s important to admit our mistakes

Back to fertiliser ….think it’s safe to say fertiliser market for this year is goosed if anyone expecting price to soften …supply may also be an issue ….and looking further down the track next year not looking much better either …hope anyone that was holding off in the hope prices would soften go shopping before it’s too late

Know little about situation but maybe he offers to pull back to these two regions in a "peace deal " ( maybe these are all he wanted anyway )

Your out of season vegetables are going to get scarce and expensive. The Dutch have cut back big time with the high price of gas it is too expensive to heat their glass houses.

In a televised address to the beleaguered people of Ukraine, POTUS Joe Biden said that regrettably, Murican troops won't be coming to help any time soon.

His thoughts were echoed by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who told the people that "the best we can do is trade a few insults with Putin and maybe threaten a few sanctions or some ****".

It was a similar story from Germany, France, and World War mongering champions Israel, who said that terrorising children in Gaza was "more our Cup of tea".

The leaders decried the fact that Ukraine hasn't any particular **** that we need, such as oil for example.

"If you could find some of that stuff, we'd be "in like flynn" the leaders of the free world told them, as another air strike hit Kyiv.

Another stumbling block in providing military assistance is the fact that Russian soldiers might shoot back.

"**** that, our lads don't take being killed very well" was the opinion of one high ranking British officer, who added that it was simpler in Iraq, where they faced a much weaker army.

"We're more the killing innocent people with a drone strike types" was how a Murican general described it, adding that their favourite war involves, "nobody on our side getting hurt".

Meanwhile in Israel, military chiefs explained that land grabbing, shooting children, breaking their faces with rifle butt's and just being ****, is preferable to going into a battle on a level playing field.

Military analysts are looking through the demographics of Ukraine and told us that so far, they haven't really found any worthwhile **** they can steal, like they did in the middle east

"You're just common **** thieves so" was one of the accusations made, to which there was no reply.

Meanwhile in Moscow, a spokesperson for President Vladimir "needle dick" Putin said that they are considering a possible expansion of their plans.

"It's nice to know that the rest of the world doesn't give a ****" he sniggered, suggesting countries like Moldova, Estonia, Lithuania and who knows, maybe Norway, could be on their list of targets.

The Russians said that even they are surprised at the lack of reaction from the west, labelling NATO as a grouping of "Gutless fuckers".

"You pricks used the argument of national security to invade Iraq and Afghanistan. We knew it was bullshit, you knew it was bullshit, the dogs on the **** street knew it was bullshit, so we're just doing the same" he said.

"I knew that stuff would come back some day and kick us square in the balls" was the reaction in Murica and the UK.

Occasionally that happens me too usually caused by the previous user doing waffles. Annoying but apparently worst things can happen……..

Absolutely. I bought the remainder of my years supply this morning. I have taken a p&k break though. If next year's prices are like this it'll be tough as I won't take a p&k break 2 years on the trot.

Talking to the glanbia rep this am. I had all mine for silage plus up to May/June for grazing. Biiig price rises incoming he said so I ordered today.

Which is why there's been no meaningful sanctions applied. Current ones will make zero difference to anything.

Germany and France seem to be well aware that we are not in a position to do anything of substance.

Isn't Russia sending them in. Not there to help Ukraine

  • Registered Users Posts: 554 ✭✭✭Morris Moss

I've yet to meet a rep throughout my life who ever said the price was going down.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,267 ✭✭✭tanko

True, isn’t it funny when the price of a barrel of oil goes down we are always told that there’s a time lag for reduced diesel, petrol or fertiliser prices as the price drop works it’s way through the system but when the price of oil goes up, prices at the pumps and quotes for fertiliser go up straight away, never waste a good crisis as they say. When will dairy nuts hit €1000 a tonne, get your order in quick before they’re all gone.

Whatever happened to that EU investigation into the price fixing cartel operating in the fertiliser industry in Europe, i suppose they couldn’t finish it because of the aul Covid.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,228 ✭✭✭Grueller

Absolutely, but given the current situation, do you expect it to?

They look like fine powerful lads to cover a silage pit

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,929 ✭✭✭enricoh

I'd say they'd have no issues with late payers/ won't payers either!

Got 21,000 gals of pig slurry delivered today (3x lorry tanker loads) mixed into aprox 30,000 gals of cattle slurry. No charge from piggery just pay the contractor - 3 hours work aprox, dunno how much yet for that?... €300? With a ton of 18.6.12 costing in the region of €750, the pig slurry @ 25.5.20 for 1,000 gals must be worth €800?

We’re in unchartered times now though …I wouldn’t be whinging it or calling a rep or suppliers bluff on fertiliser atm

Isn't there enough seaweed all around Ireland? Maybe it is a time to get some investment in this field as it may be a win win situation with domestic produce, jobs and all that modern green stuff....

  • Registered Users Posts: 554 ✭✭✭Morris Moss

I don't expect it to go down anyway, but the justification for a price rise isn't their either, I'm 10 mins from a few very big suppliers and genuinely I've never seen the yards as full, in a couple of months it could all be different, but as of now if it does rise it's on the back of greed and uncertainty.

    CAN €700, Urea €900, 19-0-15+S €740.

Delivery next week, payment before Easter.

I’ll work out what I can get away with for the season and order in the morning.

Western European fertilizer use is small on a global scale.

The biggest European fertilizer company is a bit player globally.

China and Russia control a majority of the fertilizer industry.

The yards might be full locally but the pressure globally is one way.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,740 ✭✭✭Birdnuts

That a helluva deal in these times - Hopefully increasing input prices will lead to a much better appreciation and utilization of slurry across the board

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,740 ✭✭✭Birdnuts

Due to idiotic energy policies in the last 10 years(same as here🙄), Germany is now massively dependent on Russian gas supplies to keep the lights on so is in no position to do anything in this area

Ireland and wider Europe need to look at continental solutions around energy, fertiliser and food.

Authoritarian regimes that cannot be trusted can’t be relied upon for essentials. European based alternatives are essential.

Europe should get focused on energy and food security.

Invading a country after the head man and his local diplomat saying this wasn’t going to happen. Mad stuff.

The solutions should have been put in place before the plug was pulled on carbon emitting sources.

Utterly daft to have put in to leglislation, penal laws and regulations, that will cripple industries and households, withoit viable and affordable alternatives.

    Incapables...

How many of them do you think could organise and operate a farm yard through spring time?
