Anyone doing the fantasy hurling ? I'm officially a better IC Manager than Paraic Fanning, so that's nice.

    Would still fancy Waterford.

Aussie has taken some rough treatment in the games to date (though he's well able to handle himself) so maybe he's been 'given a rest'. It looks like the Ballygunner lads are being eased back into it ; none starting but a few on the bench. Cian Wadding must be showing up well in training.

All in all, it goes to show the strength in depth of the panel.

Good to see Micky Mahony getting on the subs bench with Pauric also there

ok so need to find 2 points from last 2 games and should be fine assuming dublin dont beat laois by 45 points, which seems unlikely , be great to get them tomorrow as it means can relax for the last game and blood some players

Yep win tomorrow and we're basically 'through'

We can lose tomorrow and still have a chance of progressing but in that case we would need to beat Kilkenny and hope Dublin don't go to absolute town on Laois (which is doubtful they can score enough to matter).

Tomorrow is a big game. Win it and we're through. Lose it and suddenly drawing with Dublin and beating Laois and Antrim doesn't look very impressive. Add in that we're missing Austin Gleeson, Jamie Barron, Calum Lyons and Dessie Hutchinson who would all be first choice players. All in all I'd say tomorrow is a serious test.

A win tomorrow would be big psychologically we know we have serous players to come back but it’s a chance for others to step up again we know we will need the full squad to make themselves count if we are to finally reach that holy Grail .

It's a pretty straightforward situation. If we win at least one of two remaining group games, we go through, if we lose both we are out

A big call by Cahill to rest Aussie. I get he’s trying to protect him for the championship, by all accounts he took some punishment up in Antrim last week. But this is a game we could really do with winning, for a number of reasons. It’s a fair show of faith from Cahill in the strength of the panel if he’s expecting a win against Tipp given some of the calibre of player were missing. it would a fair marker laid down for the championship I’d we were to win today.

Mixed half but we're not giving in, Tipperary are very good in spells, same as us

Patrick Curran is after bulking up quite a bit

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,447 ✭✭✭decies

Going to need to play 35 mins plus to beat this crowd in second half . Gotta keep intensity up this lot can score from everywhere if given chances .

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,306 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Good win and nice to have at least 2 more games out before the Championship (having the championship so early feels odd)

Tipperary will be a different animal come championship

Where does Bennett stand amongst our all time greats? He’s surely up there with any of them at this stage.

Exceptional. Not just for his scores, but his workrate all around the field. How Barry heffernan wasn't sent off for the head high challenge I don't know. Perfect reply from Stephen though just to stick it over the bar

Pressure off now for the Kilkenny game and will give a chance to give more players game time and then we see our championship 15 line up for the semi final against Cork or Wexford on the 26th/27th March

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,759 ✭✭✭lertsnim

Great crowd there today. The attendance called out seemed rather low. I suppose they don't count the under 16s.

  • Registered Users Posts: 38,306 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

A draw in the Kilkenny game (or Kilkenny win) will mean both ourselves and Kilkenny go through, we beat Kilkenny and Dublin win then its Ourselves and Dublin through.

Wexford in the semis would be a good test but is what it is if its Cork, a potential league final in Croke Park or Thurles would be some bonus for any team left. You will have the usual 'oh were fine letting them battle it out while we wait in the wings'
