Fitting UK kitchen tap in Ireland?

I got a quote for a new kitchen and the cheapest, most basic mixer tap they're selling is €150. Looking on amazon, the cheapest equivalent is about £30. Is there a reason the price difference is so huge?

Can a UK tap be easily adapted to work in Ireland?

Not sure where you are trying to buy the taps but you can get them much cheaper here, screwfix in Ireland for instance are selling them from €30

UK taps will be 15mm , Irish fittings 1/2 inch.

The tap is probably the same brand as the sink they are quoting you for. I have a Franke professional top lever tap fitted to my franke sink. The Franke tap is about 120 euro but screwfix are selling an almost identical unbranded one for 36 euro.

There seems to be a huge difference in prices amongst very similar looking taps. I don't mind paying the extra if there is a difference in quality, but I'm skeptical that there actually is? Take these 2 for example, is the more expensive one that much better?

Depends on what you're looking for, I'm sure both will function fine as a tap, the more expensive one also looks a bit more engineered and sleeker but you'd really want to take a close look to determine if it's really worth it (better grade of steel, fittings more secure, smoother mechanism etc.).

A mid budget tap from Screwfix and 15mm olives for the copper tails would be my bet.

Worked in the industry and yes, there is usually a difference in quality. Cheaper taps are fine but won't keep their finish looking like new for years.
