Sadly it's easily the worst single he ever released but MTV played it non stop

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

Always found Skunk Anansie unbelievably bland.

I'd put them in the same bucket as The Offspring - just pointless really.

Got to a gig during the week for the first time in two years - although the Tuba player had visa issues so it turned out to be two drummers and a saxamaphone player. Still, it's a start.

BBC2 has an interview with a 'Nile Rodgers' tomorrow

The name rings a bell, he seems to have done a bit in the music business.

Thursday 9pm BBC2 Amol Rajan Interviews Nile Rodgers

The journalist speaks to the songwriter and producer who has worked on worldwide hits including David Bowie's Let's Dance, Madonna's Like a Virgin, and Daft Punk's Get Lucky. Nile Rodgers discusses his childhood in 1960s New York, setting up Chic with Bernard Edwards, and the racism that still troubles America

Wow, Nile Rodgers seems to have links to many famous artists.

We should hear about this more often, I think.

I wonder is it the same Nile Rodgers I saw a programme about maybe 2 weeks ago. Mentioned all the same people, suppose it might have been him.

(Remember that time he showed up on the Late Late to list all the people he's worked with?)

Other Voices will be on BBC4 10pm, Friday Mar 18th

"The programme was recorded last November and will feature new performances from Sam Fender, Sigrid, Dermot Kennedy, Villagers, Kay Young and John Grant among others.

There will also be archive performances from performers including the Brit award-winning Little Simz, Mercury Prize award winner Arlo Parks, and Dublin band Fontaines DC, who will release their third album Skinty Fia in April."

Presumably this (or the new bits, anyway) will end up on RTE when the new series is on "later this spring" it says here.

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

There was an interview with her in The Guardian a few days ago:

There’s a pre-fame clip online of you rapping with members of Public Enemy in the Shepherd’s Bush McDonald’s. How did that happen?

It was November 1987 – they’d just played this big Def Jam night at the Hammersmith Odeon with the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J and Run-DMC. On our walk home, we saw them through the window of McDonald’s – we’d seen them on stage doing all these military kind of routines, with Uzis – how on earth we went up to them and weren’t scared, I don’t know. I had my hi-tops and my nan’s cardigan on as I had a cold, and they filmed us rapping. Then we got invited to New York and I didn’t tell my mum where I was going. It was really naughty. Then my brother heard a DJ on BBC Radio London talking about this girl he’d seen rapping in Harlem. “Mum! I know exactly where Alison is!”
