Good win again. Seem be adding those bits we were missing from last year. Big boost seeing this

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Amprodude

Cork needs to win the league this year. 1998 is too long a wait for a tradition like ours in fairness.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,075 ✭✭✭PeggyShippen

Dunno if this whole league is too close to Championship. Its a good competition but the final is two weeks to Championships first round. Still looks like Cork,Wexford and Waterford, Kilkenny are all.showing good form.

I don't buy into any talk about Limerick being shoe ins for the all Ireland. In 2020 they did beat a Waterford team, that were already mentally beaten before the throw in. Last year they beat a Cork team that were very naive tactically, but it looks like we might have learned our lessons from that defeat. I'm quietly optimistic, that we'll give the all Ireland a serious rattle this year.

Crazy Journey for a league fixture, no matter the fuel prices.

I definately don't think Limerick are a shoe in for the All Ireland but I wouldnt denigrate their All irelands either. They demolished teams last year. Ruthless.

Cork are definately better this year ,seem more resilient and tougher. Its been a long time coming.

The time to knock Limerick out is in Munster..I wouldnt like to play them in Croke Park. They are so experienced now and serial winners there it would be tough. They are vulnerable at the moment but there's no one going to be too surprised if they are a totally different animal in 6 weeks.

Truly awful conditions but a draw was enough, a fine score from a free at the death for Cork.

    League final place assured.

Draw, 1-8 apiece. Cork into the league final

Footballers 11 v 6 down at ht having played with the elements.

Fairly poor. Defenders seem to foul rather than tackle.

Meath are way more tenacious in the tackle.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,121 ✭✭✭zetecescort

have only seen the 2nd half but this is very poor. lacking the basic skills, lacking any kind of plan. Our lads look like boys compared to the men of Meath.

    Lost 1-18 v 1-10

Poor again, I can see us being relegated to Div 3 and even out of the Sam Maguire in the future.

  • Registered Users Posts: 628 ✭✭✭sportsfan90

How many get relegated, is it 1 or 2 teams? Would there be a relegation final or straight down?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭Straight Talker

Division three here we come. What a shambles Cork football is. If we do go down, then we can't afford to stay down in division three for too long imo. It's been ten years now, since we won a trophy in senior football with the exception of the McGrath Cup. 2012 was the last year, we were genuine all Ireland contenders in football as well.

It's good to see the 5 year plan is working with the footballers. Shocking year for Cork, it just gets worse every year for Cork football.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,034 ✭✭✭Amprodude

2 teams will go. Cork must beat Down and Offaly to stay up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 34,151 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

Thing is we are getting beat well in these games.

We would not get promoted from Div 3 either.

And some think we might give kerry a game down in cork.. ya for first 30 seconds maybe

And some think we might give kerry a game down in cork

We might have in 2012 but not in 2022 and we have along ways to go before getting back up near the top again. I also think Ricken isn't the man for the job. He's limited I feel and hasn't improved Cork any bit since the start of the League. Lads on here saying he was a fantastic appointment really havent a clue about football. John Fenton Daly was a better man for the job, we might not have the best footballers in the country at the moment in Cork but I guarantee you Daly would have them playing football to the best of their ability and would not be relegated in Div 2 fact. He have them sharp and competitive no one can argue with that especially seeing what he did with his own club and brought them from nothing to senior in few years. Cork will now struggle in Div 3 the way they are going under Ricken. No way back if we go down to Div 3. They want a good kick up the a$$ if they allow this to happen in Cork. The Kerry boys will have some laugh at us for years.

Anyone know if the hurling semis are at a neutral venue or whether the top team in each group gets home advantage? The latter would make more sense but I fear its the former...

Anyone have a rough idea of when tickets for Limerick match next month will go on sale? Should they be handy enough to get if not a member of a club with it being in PUC?
