Creaking clutch moving off / first gear

Hi all,

My car, a Fiat Punto Pop 2012 has developed an issue and I can't afford to bring it to mechanic until next month.

There is a creaking sound (2-3 seconds intervals) and a feeling from the clutch when I move off. Once I get into 2nd gear+ it runs smooth again.

Has anyone an idea of what it could be and if I should park it up. I just need it for a couple of short journeys in the next fortnight.

Never serviced?

Serviced twice a year.

Does it happen only when the pedal is pushed ?

Yes, only when pedal is pushed. Not far off biting point.

However, I didn't notice it today.

I'm bringing it in for service when I get back so will get them to check it out. I'll write what it was in the end.

I had a similar creaking on my Toyota.

It was due to the clutch release arm needing to be lubricated at the pivot point.

In my case I was able to resolve it using spray grease. If you can't do this the gearbox may have to be removed to get access.

NB it could alternatively be the pedal pivot. I'm assuming the car has a cable clutch.
