    Fergal doesn’t need one! He’ll

    do it on merit!

hopefully for him alright !,, tough match against English Robbo in the pipeline (or now, not too sure)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Robertson offered him a lifeline there but not to be for fergal, loses 2-4. Shame, had chance to go 3-2 the previous frame but just came up short. Still tight for the card, second on one year list which is his most likely route but a few behind him are still in the turkey event and he's not, so that could inflict damage. Gonna come down to the world's as usually does. Can't see how a wild card would be in the offing, quite frankly.

Poor shot selection from Si, there was a not too hard safety clipping the outside of a red by the middle pocket getting back to baulk

Cracking pot on last red : "one of the pots of the week, no question about it" by Ron there, and he gets in to win frame 5. 3-2 up the Rocket against Ding.

Do bookies even take bets on Ronnie beating Ding?

Ding has beaten him twice in the last 10 years. Lost 15.

Walden played well to turn over Ronnie this evening. Wonder will Ronnie do a shift for eurosport in the studio tomorrow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,097 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

Was in the studio the other night after he won that day

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

It'd be great if Lisowski went on to win this tournament.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

I wonder if that missed red will come back to haunt Trump.

Apparently not. He gets over the line.

Am siding with the fav Ricky Walden here... a bridge too far for the resurgent 'Gentleman' methinks,, aint seen Joe playing at all this week tho,,

Ricky were on fire in frame 2,, a big break to tie match at one apiece,,

he's nicely in here too, early on in frame 3

JP on top here,, looking good to go 3-1 up atm,, both these on top of their games tbf

edit: Joe misses a black,, not a lot for RW to go at tho,,,

2 centuries and two frames was the best Ricky could muster,, Joe will give anyone a game the way he's playing... I'm gonna chuck a score on him to beat Jackpot tomorrow 😃

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

Pity, I was hoping that Ricky would win.

Vafaei means business here,,, Gwan Hussein!

Jimmy in a three piece and O’Sullivan in a pair of runners and t-shirt.

Good contest between Lisowski and Perry.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

Don't think many people would have predicted it to be 4-4 after the first session.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,483 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Forgot that Iulian Boiko is from Ukraine. Born in Kyiv in 2005. Only 16 on the tour at this time. No doubt the snooker family look after the lad.

8-5 Perry. Trump needing all 4 to win.

Delighted for Joe. Really hope he closes this out early.

Perry has played well, especially potting from distance.

Delighted for Joe, great to see him win

    Gentleman Joe!

Same as that. I had written him off. I still think he's past it and suspect this is a flash in the pan, but can't take away his performance this week. Delighted for him.

I think Hossein Vafaei has taken his place as in my mind as an outsider who I'd really support. He's good to watch too.

    The Perry era has begun

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Scrappy as fück start to Higgins vs Emery, must have been 10 minutes of play if not more before a ball was potted…

incidentally that red / orange carpet… tanning my eyeballs..

Jaysus how many final frame 147s has Ronnie made, it's ridiculous

Never get tired watching the 5m break but he's got some amazing other maximums

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,483 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

So Trump's win in Turkey gets him into the top 8 on the 1 year list and the Cazoo Tour Championship.

A good break ahead of a very busy time ahead with the Tour Championship, World Qualifiers, and the World Championship.

With the Gibraltar Open on Thursday 24th - Saturday 26th, you could, if you are so inclined, go from 24th March to Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May with only three days Snooker free. And the Last 32 draw for Sheffield is on one of those days.

So, getting the head down, ahead of a busy time ahead.

Potential nice twist to this story - 2 weeks later in Gibraltar he is 3-0 up on Kyren Wilson (best of 7 final) to win his first ranking event at the age of 46. Eurosport 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,483 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Another different winner. It really is opening up for players to have their day in the sun. Literally in the case of Gibraltar.

Another hit for Kyren Wilson is that he misses out on the tour championship because he lost that final. Higgins holds 8th place and will play Zhou on Monday.

Higgins also took 150 grand for the Bet Victor series. Mark Allen just needed a grand more and he'd have it. He'd regret not winning a match or two more in the Shootout.

150 grand is a nice little tickle. And shows that all tournaments can matter in their own way. Players have to be a little bit careful now about skipping over too many matches and events.

I am absolutely DELIGHTED for Robert Milkins, getting his first tour win at 46 years of age. When he's on his game he's very entertaining to watch, scores really heavily at break neck speed. Seems a really humble guy as well, fair play to him.

Tour Championship Finals on ITV4 this week. Just one game a day, but long format best of 19.

I think it's Xintong v Higgins today, Robertson v Allen tomorrow, Ronnie v Williams Wednesday, Trump v Brecel Thursday.

Semi's Friday and Saturday (Robertson/Allen v Ronnie/Williams is the bracket).

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,910 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

That defeat will hurt Zhao. I have to say made so questionable shot choices over the course of the match though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,483 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

This format gives some prep for the Crucible for these top 8. Every match is like a final, two sessions, proper length matches.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,483 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

A classic this Ronnie v Willo 9-9. No going to bed with this one.

I just went to bed. I’ll see the result tomorrow

Loved it, my two favourite players. This tournament is right up there with Masters and WC, three epic matches so far this week and no doubt four more to come.

They don't count his WC win. It's the Top 8 on tournaments since then (i.e. this season).

This was the list, he is down in 24th.

So Ronnie is going to be world number 1 going into Sheffield?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,483 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

It would seem so. Unless Trump wins it maybe.

Ronnie didn't qualify for this in 2020, which was played in June 2020 and was one of the first sporting events to open back up.

So when that money falls off the 2 year list we will see some upheaval.

Stephen Maguire won the 150 grand in 2020, I was wondering what kept him so high up the rankings. So he will drop like a stone when new rankings are out next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,483 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Just checked, Maguire is World number 16 today, but he will drop into the 40s on Monday it seems. He has to qualify for Sheffield anyway.

The winner of the ronnie and robertson match tomorrow surely goes on to lift the trophy ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 485 ✭✭eric hoone

    Trump very unreliable today

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,138 ✭✭✭Sandor Clegane

So so poor from Brecel there, he threw that away...still 8-4 to him but you don't want to be giving players like Judd hope, he had Judd in all sorts of trouble there, 9-3 no way back for Judd but now...stranger things have happened in snooker.

  • Registered Users Posts: 485 ✭✭eric hoone

Trump shouldn't have taken that yellow on
