Insurance on Yellow Reg car

I have recently moved up north and I am looking to change my car. I want to buy a UK license plate car. But all my no claims discounts are on my insurance policies in ROI. Can I insure my hypothetical new car with ROI insurers? Or do I have to insure a UK reg car with UK insurance companies? Thanks

Or do I have to insure a UK reg car with UK insurance companies? YES (ROI companies allow 30 days to get the plate changed over only)

Cannot perm insure a UK reg in the ROI. (Affects NCT/Taxing etc)

Liberty have offices North and South so it might be a good option... i expect all companies will be able to facilitate your needs...

And? That's not relevant to what the OP asked.

They are asking if they can get an ROI policy on a UK registered car while living in NI. The answer to that is just no.

I told person what i think they need know... living in North buying UK car... my advise insure in NI... i expect they want to transfer no claim bonus which will not be a problem...

No need to insure the hypothetical new car here...
