Most people are just totally p***ed off.

was in the doctors yesterday, same boring inane stare at reception. Try to make someone smile, makes the world a better place. It isn’t easy I have to agree, people are beaten down.

i think it’s the fact most interactions are hostile and people react the same way. When the reaction is of a happy type, it’s a pleasant shock..😀

It's like this since covid. Everyone has the lasting effects of cabin fever and having been on edge for so long. People now hate each other & cling to authority and money to make their lives bearable. The opposite of the community spirit & helping each other out like long ago

Wtf are you doing on the phone on a windy bendy rural road? Do you not look at the news? This seems to be where most of the horrific crashes and deaths are occurring every couple of days. Motorbike probably sped to get as far away from you as possible before you killed someone.

I think what we really need is cause for celebration. The way I was hoping covid would end was that after a grueling lockdown all the pubs would be stocked up to the brim and there would be a mahoosive party in every town with live music and dancing on the streets.

An abrupt Ukranian victory would also help. Preferably if both these events occurred at the start of a spell of fantastic weather it would reinvigorate people with a lust for life that's been missing the past few years. Instead we are faced with lingering crises and increasing economic pressure.

Also coasting at work is a huge problem (https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20220329-the-coasting-workers-whove-checked-out-of-their-jobs) this means companies have become frustrating to deal with and it's impossible to get stuff done. If you're getting nothing done because coasters are doing nothing for you then you won't feel any sense of achievement and we all stay stuck in a rut.

I read all this as you having the attitude, to be honest. You're angry with everybody.

GP practices are, by and large, appalling. They are a critical part of the health system and there doesn't seem to be nearly enough staff. Add to that the fact that many people who study medicine do so for money and status. Add to that the fact that many patients have medical cards (ah shur they're getting the service for free, fcuk them) Add to that GPs getting into a habit of doing bullsh*t phone consultations during Covid and you have the ingredients for a perfect storm of rudeness, greed, arrogance and poor service. Also referring people to A&E where they'll sit on a chair for ten hours with the HSE blaming the GPs and the GPs blaming the HSE. People are wound up and rightly so. Having said that I think sending prescriptions direct to the pharmacy is a good idea, one of the few things that they get right.

I can only gauge your attitude from this thread and some of the examples you've given.If you act like a cnut you'll be treated like one.

First step I'd advise is to come completely off social media,including boards and limit your time online.People act a lot differently online (including myself) than in real life.Rubbing your hands with glee about the upcoming row you're going to have with a receptionist is not healthy, it's also not smart if she's your doctors receptionist.

We're also very lucky to live in a country and culture where the vast,vast majority of people are sound if you are sound to them,a lot of people in Ireland take this for granted.

Using your phone while driving is a proper arsehole move. The motorcyclist reacted to that. He is more vulrenable than you and his passing you was likely to get ahead of you for his own safety? He was wrong to take his hand off the wheel but 2 wrongs do not make a right.

Not turning up to an appointment with a dentist who cannot then fill that slot is an arsehole move. That affects his earnings. He is right to charge you a deposit in future.

If you don't like your new doctor or their receptionist then move to another practice.
