    That's what's up!!

I saw this dope NFL jersey in sports direct earlier.

Love the color, the size, the fit, the badges.

Then I looked at the price tag...... which I didn't love.

    50 currency units, for a t-shirt.

    I figured I'll just make note of the name and brand (Las Vegas Raiders), then order it off amazon, aliexpress, dhgate;

    Nuh.

Turns out sports direct mark-up isn't even that high, those jersey's are Rodeo-Drive level expensive through all vendors.

Could you justify it? Minimum wage take home pay for a days work, on a flimsy article of clothing?

    let's do some simple addition,

Fifty dollars for a t-shirt, that's just some ignorant bitch (****)

I call that getting swindled and pimped (****)

I call that getting tricked by a business

Maybe it costs 10 dollars to make the shirt, the team gets 15 dollars, it costs money to send it to Ireland, the shop has to make a profit, pay workers, insurance , esb, rates etc you can buy a shirt in a charity shop for 5 euro , what you are paying for is status and the brand name and to show you are a sports fan. You are buy swag not just an item of clothing

The shop probably pays 30 dollars for each shirt

It's a luxury good . You don't need a brand name shirt to live. Also if you hold onto to it for 10 years it could be worth 100 dollars. People pay crazy amounts for vintage merch. Why do people pay 100s of dollars for certain sneakers with a brand name because its swag. A status symbol. You can wear it to show off.

Amazon has to pay a certain price for sports merch, like anyone else the team probably has rules heres the price no one can buy it for less than x

Like an new iPhone comes out apple sets the minimum wholesale price say 1000 euros no one can buy it for less than 1000 e whether its amazon ali express etc

There's probably people who buy ever la raiders shirt every year and never take it out of the packaging just put it on a shelf complaining about the cost of luxury goods or merch is pointless no one forces you to buy it

It's like going to a 5 star hotel and being surprised a room costs more than 40 euros

    50 euros is cheap.

Once caught a lad nicking six T shirts worth a total of 800 punts in BTs back in the 90s.

I couldn't justify spending any money on the NFL and why would you support a soulless, corporate, nomadic team like the Raiders? One year they're based in Oakland, the next they're in LA, then back to Oakland, and now they're in Vegas. If they feel the Las Vegas fans aren't loyal enough and get a sniff of more money elsewhere, they'll move again. They're not much better than Dell moving to Poland to lower their wage bill and increase their profits.

How can anyone train outdoors in Las Vegas heat?

It's like having a hair dryer in your face.

The word Dope is all I need here.

Apply it to anyone that will pay €50 for a T shirt.

Also apply it to any Irish person that thinks they are American

Oh and I nearly forgot. Yo.

Yeah the girls behind the make up counters, they just love me the most.

    "Sir, don't touch that!!"

    lol

And the lassies wandering about with "Juicy" printed across their ass, they see me trying a few swatches and start bleeding out their ears.

Oh yes, they just love me in BT's.

Though maybe they'll be more impressed and accepting next time when I stroll in wearing my new Las Vegas Raiders shirt.

I thought you were going to say that yo that tshirt is dope , the world is full of rich stupid people, people are paying 1000s of dollars for nfts, just a link to a block chain that says Joe bloggs owns this image jpeg An image that can be copied by anyone on the Web. At least in theory in 10 years time that tshirt might be worth 300 euros to a collector if its not worn and in good condition. I think it's strange there's Irish people that are fans of American football . Is it even possible to watch that sport in Ireland unless you are using some illegal streaming website

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,749 ✭✭✭Sugar_Rush

Outside of "Friday Night Lights" I've never watched American football in my life.

I just think their jersey's are...... dope.

I love the color coding, badges, material, their cut, it's like they were designed for me personally; I could pay the same (or more) for Ralph Lauren etc with less return on investment.

Ironic thing is I picked up a couple of genuine NFL shirts in a thrift store a few years ago and thought they were so pimp I've been looking for decent knock-offs ever since.

I mean, check out how boss this looks,

Sleek material, emphasized embossed lettering, fitted design.

Just can't find that with any other brands or retailers.

€50 for a T-shirt is not bad value.

You's pay the same for coffee and scones.

    That's one uglyass T-shirt.

  • Registered Users Posts: 701 ✭✭✭Ljmscooter

    Boss ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,749 ✭✭✭Sugar_Rush

    Yeah.

After a substantial period of contemplation and almost an entire Saturday afternoon of trying on t-shirts and hitting poses in the mirror, I eventually overlooked the Las Vegas Raiders in favor of my old accomplice, Calvin Klein.

NFL jersey's are still absolutely pimp but at half the price I went for the more conventional high street option.

Not to mention, I think the Brown Thomas mob prefer to see Calvin Klein ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders browsing their makeup department.

    .........

    Real pimp.
