I see MvdP put his ride up on Strava - https://www.strava.com/activities/6926492779/overview

Pogacar must surely have the strava KOM on the koppenberg, the way he galloped up it, in the saddle, dropping everyone it seems. Plus that little ball of energy, fellow countryman Jan Tratnik, danced up the Paterberg. Must be some big kudos going abegging in Ljubliana...

Will never know as he was without his computer after the crash near the start. MvdP is joint 3rd on one of them for his effort last year .

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,242 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

Pog hasn't uploaded yesterday to strava yet (or hasn't made it public), so he's not on the leaderboard. Turgis is currently KOM, from last year, while MVDP was 4s slower yesterday than in 2021.

EDIT: Forgot about Pog dropping his computer...

Nico Roche on comms this week for the basque tour.

Decent crowd there for a Monday afternoon to cheer riders on, plenty of noise being made.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,242 ✭✭✭✭retalivity

    Remco a class apart here.

EDIT: Maybe a class of 2!

Looking good for the break here 15km to go and they still have 2 minutes.

... EDIT : Or not now they start looking at each other with 11 to go.

Nico's commentary is good but his voice could do with a higher volume

All the other Spanish pro-conti teams should fcuk Caja Rujal out of it after that - wtf were they at?

The Burgos DS wasn't happy, great translation from Nico.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,266 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

Really impressive by Nico today from the little bit I watched (last 10k) or so

Remco the ultimate lead out man too.

Remco the ultimate lead out man too

    I don't think Wout would agree 🤣

I caught the last 50km of the French race too, it's being shown on reginal TV website which isn't geo restricted. Looked at the startlist this morning and no team had a full squad starting most on 5 or 6 and a few with 4. Not much control as expected. The likes of Pinot, Ganna and Pederson bridged to a 4 man break to make it 10 and stayed away. Not sure how the rest of the stages will play out later this week.

Ha. Maybe he’s decided Wout was right and he’s found his level

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,113 ✭✭✭mr spuckler

Seems like there's more humility from him at the moment, talking about Roglic the way he did on Monday and then both his role and celebration for JAyesterday.

Megan Armitage away in a break of 3 at Scheldeprijs. Nice day out on the telly for her.

Sam Bennett down to start in the mens, could have sworn he wasn't down to start when I checked the startlist at the weekend.

Not sure whats happened in the mens race, Sam and 3 team mates are in a group of 14, 30 seconds off the front. Selig, Kristoff, Merlier and Philipsen are in there too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,113 ✭✭✭mr spuckler

No mention of him in the preview I read yesterday either, although tbf that could also be form related.

Sounds though like Bora have smashed the early echelons in the crosswinds. Although still 160km to go 😶

    This is from CN text updates;

These are the teams and riders in the front group that lead by 30 seconds.

    Alpecin-Fenix: Philipsen and Merlier

    Lotto Soudal: Selig

    Intermarché-Wanty Gobert: Kristoff and Thijssen

BORA-hansgrohe: Bennett, Meeus, Mullen and Van Poppel

DSM: Bol, Van Uden and Welsford

    Trek-Segafredo: Theuns

    Arkea-Samsic: McLay

    Uno-X-Pro: Waerenskjold

Its apparently very windy there today, could have been echelons

Yeah they have a picture up on pcs feed there.

    Yep, 1:20 gap now.

    https://www.cyclingnews.com/races/scheldeprijs-2022/elite-men/live-report/

    13:23:08

This is a fascinating battle and high-stakes considering the effort required.

     13:21:39

Both Fabio Jakobsen of QuickStep and Arnaud De Lie of Lotto-Soudal both missed the split.

The other teams and the 15 riders are not waiting for them. The gap is up to 1:20.

    12:47:41

There are three echelon groups. The third is already at 55 seconds!

     12:40:17

The wind is blowing harder now and splitting the peloton into different groups.

It will be a hard day in the saddle at Scheldeprijs today.

Close call there for that Intermarche rider.

Gap is yo-yoing in and out, seems to be going the way of Sam and G1 now, 40+ seconds

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,113 ✭✭✭mr spuckler

Sounds like Sam is struggling badly

    15:00:39

Bora have 4 riders in the attack and will surely ride for Danny van Poppel and a sprint finish.

    14:59:44

Bennett is doing a turn but is gritting his teeth. The Irishman is not yet back to his best after his knee injuries of 2021.

     14:58:53

The front group seems to be losing unity, not every rider has the same desire and strength.

Sam Bennett is at the back and suffering. While Søren Wærenskjold (Uno-X) has been distanced.

One of the Lotto riders in G2 threw an empty bidon over to a handful of spectators. They just looked at it as if thinking "Who's that from? Arnaud De Lie? Nah - don't think I'll bother"

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭De Bhál

looks like the chase is done. Hopefully Sam gets a bit of a rest now before the finish line
