Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This is it- if that's a penalty, then pretty much every contact inside the penalty area is going to result in the attacker going down and getting a penalty. "Oh look - an arm! All I have to do is run into it and fall over!"

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Salah would have 3 penalties per game if last night’s incident was deemed a penalty. Ref was very good last night - Fabinnho should’ve had a 1st half yellow but other than that got everything spot on.

Nunez also had his arm out pushing VVD away from him so should it have been a free kick out?

Not really they rarely concede a goal form it, Becker is probably the best one on one keeper in the world & they gladly use that,

Most times in the Prem when it looks broken its actually offside but they lino doesn't put the flag up till the moves over , it happens countless times

Also what people over look is there high line is more important to there own attack than ,It puts massive pressure on opposition & makes it impossible for them to have any breathing time on the ball because Liverpool are so close to them at all times, Its absolute vital in there attacking play,

Its also a huge reason as to why Liverpool tend to take over in the last 10- minutes of games because the constant pressure tires teams out mentally ,Last night a great example Liverpool started the second half poorly but eventually Benfica tired & Liverpool took over again,

Seeing criticism of Man City last night and hearing it during the game and honestly I couldn't believe it. You'd swear these people haven't watched Atletico for the better part of a decade. They're a nightmare draw in the Champions League for big teams over 2 legs. You fall behind in the tie and it becomes a nearly impossible mountain to climb. They're fit, they're well drilled, they're physical and they very rarely make mistakes. The 5-5-0 last night would be difficult for any team to breakdown. The only criticism of Man City last night was that the switch of play didn't always come quickly enough, but in terms of limiting counter attacking opportunities through their passing and positioning, it was Grade A stuff. They finally crafted a chance and they took it which makes the 2nd leg a totally different prospect for both teams now. But honestly I thought Man City's control didn't get the credit it deserved last night.

Losing 1-0 away from home isn’t as bad a result for Atletico as it would be if the away goals rule was still in use. If Atletico can score first it will be tough going for Man City.

On the city match, I'm scratching my head why Llorente chipped his big chance straight to ederson. He had time to place it either side of him, or go with power.

If Athletico score first, they'll try and take it to penalties.

Tonight's top game between Chelsea and Madrid is a tough one to call. I said after the draw that Chelsea should canter through it as they did the last time they met Madrid. But since then Chelseas performances seem to have taken a dip, so could go either way unless they up their game again.

Can only see Bayern coming through the other tie.

Want Madrid to advance. Hoping for a Benzema masterclass. Should be a good game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

That would have been a beautiful goal from Madrid.

Danjuma has given Villarreal the lead.

incredible pace to the first 15mins of this game. Great game so far. Chelsea and RM players will be wreaked by the half time.

His wife looks even more silly now after that rant she made to the Chelsea fans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Surprised Courtois hasn't saved that given the season he's having. Game on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,716 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

Let back in with some poor defending. Match could swing either way now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,716 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    That is garbage from Benzema

    Easiest one

Expected Benzema to bury that. Hope he gets the hat-trick before the night is out.

You won't see more of a sitter missed. Should be 3-1 Real Madrid. Just get it on target and Mendy has no chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,294 ✭✭✭tanko

Was his foot not clipped by Jorginho as he went to shoot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,246 ✭✭✭Esse85

Absolutely end to end, brilliant first half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

More of that in the 2nd half, please.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,716 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

Small contact, but not enough to put a player of his level off IMO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,716 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

    Hahahaha

    Dreadful stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    BENZEMA HAT-TRICK!

Terrible from Mendy but Benzema now has back-to-back hat-tricks against PSG and Chelsea. What a player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Shocking mistake by Chelsea, Mendy to be precise. Completely self inflicted goal. 3-1.

What is going on with the Chelsea defence

    Top save

    Probably woodwork bound, but still

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,805 ✭✭✭mightyreds

Mendy can't even blame a Sergio Ramos elbow for that one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,081 ✭✭✭Fromvert

Awful pass from Mendy but Rudiger needs to be going full blooded into that ball. So weak, like all Chelsea defenders when there's not 5 of them back there with 3 DMs in front.

What way was Rudiger trying to tackle Benzema. Shocking all round. Some save from Cortouis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Brilliant save by Courtois, thought that was going in. One keeper saves a certain goal, the other gift wraps a present to Real Madrid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,023 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Does any team in the CL benefit from other teams fck ups as much as Real Madrid? Huge goals in key moments against Bayern, Liverpool, and Chelsea over the past few years that were entirely caused by those teams themselves.

(Though of course the other side of it is that there was always a RM player there pressuring to take advantage).

    Gerrin Burnley !

This is looking a goooooood midweek

I'm convinced Lukaku's goals at Inter aren't real.
