Why is Easter in Ireland so ****

You get poxy ashes and a pancake and commiserate a brilliant politicians death and his dubious resurrection, thats your bag and fair play to you.

Lots of us however have great craic, there's parades, techno dance, road trips, epic journeys, javelin throwing, drinks & baby sheep eating, celebrating spring, feasting, dancing, BBQ's, get togethers, fire eating etc... That's our bag.

Two bags. You choose.

Whats the problem there now? Easter Monday means we can drink Friday, Saturday and Sunday night?

Its brilliant.

You could wear a crown of thorns and be nailed to a cross on good Friday, then emerge triumphantly on Easter Sunday. I'm sure a few people would celebrate with you.

Nonsense. I have eaten at least twenty Easter eggs since the start of the year.

We do have our version of Mardi Gras just few weeks earlier, St Patrick’s Day.

hopefully going mountain biking this weekend, with a belly full of chocolate, what more do you need!

Surely even Mayo has moved on enough that they are no longer sacrificing lads on Easter Sunday.

What sins did he die for? Why did he need to die for them? If he hadn’t of died what would have happened?

Ireland has a boring, bland Rome-approved Easter, now overtaken by the commercialised version. Get your mass produced over packaged choc eggs before they're all gone. No cute folk traditions like other countries.

A few ppl wearing Easter lilies which is useful so as you can spot and avoid them.

Yep, if you take the Easter out of Easter, well it's just chocolate left and you can have that anytime of the year.

The church did plenty of good things too .. I’d two uncles in London who’d have died long before they did only for priests helping them in rough times .

our local top of the range community centre was built thanks to Trojan fund raising by a local priest .

yes bad things happened but a lot of good things were done too . Lots of bad stuff happened in our local swimming club but it doesn’t stop me going swimming . A lot of people here on boards have become full of hate . If you don’t like something just don’t go , seems simple enough . Don’t be so full of hate to attack people happy doing what they enjoy.
