This is nothing new. The difference is that a lot of crime is being caught on camera nowadays and some crimes get more media attention than others. It is probably much worse than we imagine.

I remember a period in the late 90’s in Dublin when almost every weekend it seemed like someone was having the bollox bet out of them. An abundance of cash and drugs feed this type of behaviour. As well as a judiciary who couldn’t give a toss.

Saw that too. Very odd. He looked chuffed. Possibly because he was out on the street after committing 2 terrible crimes, and received free legal aid and a Romanian translator for future court appearances.

I saw that on VMN, what's more alarming is he got Bail and of course Free legal Aid. With one of the victims in critical condition and two assault charges, I was astonished he got bail, beggar's belief.

Apparently he had to hand in his passport, it's just extraordinary notwithstanding recent horrific incidents and minister for Justice, yet again promising action bail was granted with a victim in critical condition.

The sight of this individual along with 2 friends walking out of the court with not a care in the world was galling 😳

We've known for ages that we need more Gardai and more prison spaces, but we badly need judicial oversight now. That's crazy that he was allowed out on bail. And it was probably a couple of hundred quid bail too. For leaving a victim in critical condition, the bail should be minimum of €500k. That judge should be fired imo. Infuriating madness. Glad I left this behind.

The Irish Justice Industry (let's be honest it is an industry rather than a system at this point) is fundamentally set up to keep violent offenders on the street. Someone with 100 convictions is a cash cow. Let's say the various legal fees etc per case comes to 20,000 per case. Between all the solicitors, barristers, clerks etc etc on both sides that'll be in the ball park per case. 100 convictions means one scroate criminal makes €2 million for the justice industry. That's a lot of BMWs and Michelin starred meals. So of course they will be financially invested in keeping the scroate on the street committing crimes.

We need to take sentencing out of the control of the justice industry. Say after 5 convictions there needs to be legislation to make sure the scroate has to serve the maximum sentence for the crime. No reduced sentences. No suspended sentences. Nearly release. Don't let the judge have any ability to send the scroate out on the street early to earn more money for their solicitor and barrister mates.

Look at these pictures from the last few days, all these gadges literally walking back out onto the street to do the exact same thing again and again and again. While the "Minister for Justice" is nowhere to be seen, found or heard until a time of her own choosing.

The authorities are literally laughing at everybody with this craic. This is what you get.
