Mark didn't take full advantage of the crazy fluke.

Willo has just been too poor tonight. Hope he can regain his form for the final session

That could be a decisive last frame to go 8-8

Williams and Yan could be bomb disposal experts. Ice cool the pair of them. Would have made a great final.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

No studio chat on Eurosport tonight.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,460 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

The chat is there alright. This Asian lad is not really clued in to what is happening around the tournament.

I miss Colin presenting this year. Or even Rachel.

I was watching Yan vs Williams on the Player, presuming it was internet only and not shown live on television.

You're joking, right? Especially with that grade scale? Promising. It's taken him nearly a dozen chances to win some frames. He's lucky he's playing the worst person left in the tournament other than himself.

one thing Ronnie has sometimes been guilty of is being dragged down by an opponent playing badly. I think that’s what we saw yesterday.

his tip didn't sound right either in the first part of the second session last night, sounded better after the interval and he seemed to play better then

Maguire should be embarrassed and ashamed by that performance. This is the quarter-finals of the World Championship. He was awful and threw in the towel. Match over, 13-5. All 3 of the other losing quart-finalists would have given Ronnie a better match and possibly/probably won.

Any particular reason they have Higgins and Lisowski in back to back sessions to finish their quarter final? If the afternoon session drags on a bit with some slow frames then it's pretty much going to be up to 17 frames with just around 90 minutes of rest in total.

I know they've done it in previous years too, but surely it makes more sense to have two matches finish in the afternoon and the other two tonight?

Do higgins and Lisowski have to do back-to-back sessions today? Seems a bit unfair

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,111 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Regardless of how he played though, his attitude when he's not playing well is really good these days, usually willing to fight hard to grind frames out. He's completely transformed this aspect of his game and he's actually getting better at it as he gets older. A player with O'Sullivan's talent who's also up for a scrap is gonna be hard to beat.

Someone may complain the schedule is that way to suit Ronnie. Who gets a rest now until tommorow at 7.

But then a counter arguement may come that Ronnie rarely plays in the morning.

We tend to go through the cycle of them. Ah well it all drums up a bit of interest.

Been that way for a long time (~20 years). Ensures that there is definitely snooker on this afternoon as otherwise if two games had finished 13-3 there'd be nothing to show.

You don’t seem to understand how the world championships work, players only play other players who they are drawn against, if they beat them they play another player in the next round. Hypothetical if my auntie had b***s situations don’t matter, a player only has to beat what is put in front of them, no one else matters. As for Stephen Maguire doing what he does here every year, why would anyone be surprised.

4 on the bounce this morning for Bingham to lead 7-5. Trump need to split the next 4 and get to his preferred evening slot at worst 7-9 otherwise big trouble.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,329 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Some comeback by Bingham wow. From two behind to three up. Trump looks genuinely shell shocked..

these Eurosport or whoever the directors of the TV coverage are need to get new jobs….Trump misses a pot earlier this frame, no view of the pot, just a side on arty view of Trump and his reaction… from striking to missing, we’ve no clue where the balls went or what happened.

Trump just seems a million miles away. He's barely registered this morning.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,329 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Seems to have woken up, going to pull back to within one you’d think.

Trump dug in deep to win them last 3 frames. Bingham will be disappointed despite winning the session but all to play for tonight

Has Radzi been poached by Eurosport too?

Strange that Rachel Casey was covering all the snooker all year and now she's pushed down to taking interviews. She was in Ronnies dressing room last night.

Williams still missing easy (for him anyway) shots.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,111 ✭✭✭waynescales1

These pockets are hoovering the balls in, far too generous.

  • Moderators, Entertainment Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,394 Mod ✭✭✭✭Say Your Number

Two in a row for Yan, if he gets the next it could be curtains.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,460 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Everyone in the game accepts that the pocket template hasn't changed in years. as far as I know.

They'd need some conspiracy of silence in the game to 'make' the pockets bigger.

My money is on the explanation of the snooker journalists that camera angles can make things deceptive and the tables don't diffed apart from the faster cloth.

Wish they'd put all phones in pouches and leave them outside the arena.

    Pain in the hole.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,253 ✭✭✭tanko

The pocket template mightn’t have changed but some people think that the slate has been cut back slightly so that the ball drops into the hole sooner than it used to, making pots a bit easier.

That last shot by Yan was like something I'd do.
