Larvae/fungus???

Just noticed this all over a buxus plant. Wasn't there a few weeks ago. What has me worried is that it is literally on every branch/leaf.

Does anyone know what it is? Is there an easy remedy, or is it best to give up on the plant and dispose in case it spreads to nearby plants?

I have two large Box hedge balls 60 cm and spotted these over the weekend on the new leaves . I sprayed a very very diluted bug clear and clipped some leaves which had too many of these . I could see more the next day .

Sprayed "neem oil" with water next and the infestation seems to be under control ..for now ..

Did the soapy water (fairy liquid) and three watering can loads. Certainly improved it, but noticed this evening that it didn't completely removed it. So just did another 3 watering can loads and will see tomorrow evening if its completely gone.

As a matter of interest - if left untreated, other than being unsightly, would it end up destroying the plant, or is it just a cosmetic issue and would go away of its own accord in time?

Spray it on and drench them in suds. An old household cleaner spray bottle would do if you haven't a sprayer. A watering can won't really do it.

If you can manage not to waterlog the compost you can blast them off with a spray from a hose. Just don't overdo the pressure and damage the leaves.

If you hose most of them off you can then be more selective with spraying with soapy water.
