Surely Dame Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess in Dowton Abbey , desreves a mention.

But Alan Rickman performances in Robin Hood and Die Hard my favourites

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

Jason Isaacs as General Zhukov in Death of Stalin.

Absolutely owned every scene he was in, especially punching Johnny Depp (Stalin's son) for kicking off at the funeral!

Since it's a tv forum, I will stick to tv roles.

Bobby Cannavale as Gyp Rossetti in Boardwalk Empire was superb the season he was in it. As were Stephen Graham as Al Capone and Michael Kenneth Williams as Chalky White. But the best was Michael Shannon playing Van Alden. Such presence.

Thought Jeremy Irons was excellently eccentric in The Watchmen.

Ann Dowd is a great character actress. Really portrays evil well as Aunt Lydia in Handmaid's Tale and as Patti in the Leftovers.

So many great minor characters in GOT when it was at its peak, particularly the Hound, Oberyn Martell and Tywin Lannister.

Not the main stars, but I thought Adam Nagaitis and Tobias Menzies were both superb in the terrific The Terror.

Trying to really isolate supporting roles, and not actors that form the part of a big ensemble.

    Bob Odenkirk in Breaking Bad

Dianne Rigg in Game of Thrones

    Margo Martindale in Justified

    Ann Dowd in The Leftovers

    John Hannah in Spartacus

Michael K Williams in The Wire
