Good first half from Cork. Giving Kerry plenty of problems. Keeping Sean O Se and Clifford quiet, rest of forwards not causing much problems, maybe o brien a bit with his straight running. Teams really should do everything bar foul him as his kicking is poor.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,375 ✭✭✭Gael85

O'Brien is very good winning frees. Grabs opposition players and dives to ground. Surely referees have copped him by now. Referee very generous to kerry.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,474 ✭✭✭robbiezero

He has. Cork should have had free in just at end there and Barry should have got black card.

Ya O brien is at it a long time, he actually wants the foul as he doesnt want to be kicking for a score if he can avoid it.

The camera work is shite for the Kerry game. Keeps cutting to the crowd every minute

Expected a big first 10 of that half from Kerry, but they have actually been worse.

This could be on for Cork here although i cant see them having the conditioning to last it.

Geaney for Brosnan shortly id say. He has been very poor.

Cork need to shut up when they give a free away.

That Ed Sheeran lad is having a good influence on the game.

Out on their feet with 60 gone and Kerry have made hay.

Not bad from Cork, gave Kerry plenty of it for most of the game.

I'm going to ask this question which has been answered so many times but need to reiterate the nonsense of current competition structures.

What's the point of a championship that's been dominated by one team for most of it's history barring the odd Cork victory and rare 'weaker' county triumphs. The whole thing is a **** charade and should be thrown into the dustbin of history where it rightly belongs, not be paraded as genuine competition which is a big insult to players that don't want hammerings and play at a level where they can win something tangible to build upon for the future, not be treated as cannon fodder.

3 of the 4 provincial championships are a joke.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,474 ✭✭✭robbiezero

It should be disassociated from the all ireland series in both codes and let the provinces handle it how they like then.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,839 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

I thought the championship was going to be burst wide open at one stage.

Cork should play in P ui rinn ‘flower lodge’ and forget PUC. If it makes them put in performances like that!

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Problem is it suits Kerry and Cork. Football not treated seriously in Cork.

Football is only for those who can’t hurl - as the saying goes in Cork. The rest of the counties in Munster (bar Kerry) have no real football tradition at all.

So there is never going to be real appetite for change. Simple as that.

Similar question could be asked about Connacht.

The only reason the imbalance gets highlighted in Leinster is because there are counties with football tradition that have gone backwards in the last 10 years or so.

You are correct though provincial system should be scrapped.

But Ulster is great comp and they won’t want their competition scrapped.

Cork was competitive for 50 minutes it was Cork 0-10 Kerry 0-11 at the time. For the rest of the match Kerrys much better bench with David Moran showing he remains Kerry best midfielder and their fitness and conditioning allowed them to win pulling up 0-23 to 0-11

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,839 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

They did look worried at one stage though. Kerry panel is by far the strongest in the country now. It will be some shock to see them beaten.

Fair play to Flahive keeping David Clifford quiet. No doubt managers will be analysing how he did it.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,474 ✭✭✭robbiezero

He had a lot of help, they swept in front of him and doubled and trebled up when he got it, but he did well, other managers will take note. Kerrys attack was quite blunt with him being neutralized, until the last quarter.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,474 ✭✭✭robbiezero

Moran is a beast, but I think they will only use him off the bench, he gets very headless when he tires towards the end of a game when he starts. Some man to bring on towards the end when you want to squeeze opposition kick outs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,839 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Think you’re right. Plus Moran has that calmness about him as well as his strength. So he can settle things down if needs be.

What is the point of RTE and BBC both showing the Donegal game? Surely everyone has BBC in this day and age? Why doesn't the GAA insist on RTE covering a different game if there is one on at the same time time as an Ulster game BBC are showing?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,463 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

As I understand it, the system is actually the complete opposite, it's BBCNI following RTE. i.e, RTE pick an Ulster game and under the terms of the GAA/BBC contract, BBCNI must provide the obu, cameras and crew. At which stage sure they might as well show it themselves.

Noelle Healy great in studio low on cliches. High on real analysis. Strangely works well with Pat beside her and his chat of intensity cliches etc. Good mix I like it.

Time for Murphy to shave the head. Looks like an old man with the balding and grey hair.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,239 ✭✭✭Pussyhands

Cavan putting it up to donegal but I think donegal will pull away when cavan tire.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,239 ✭✭✭Pussyhands

Full forward for cavan is a star in the making

Pat enjoying Ulster football. Wonders never cease. I get the impression he would like Cavan to win.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,474 ✭✭✭robbiezero

You would expect this to go like other games and donegal to pull away and win comfortably from 55 mins on. But Donegal have a knack of leaving teams in it and getting caught

Cavan must want to leave the Republic, wearing poppies on your sleave in May is fairly radical.
