IST score probably used to tie break people with same AC scores

I'm so happy to have passed the biggest hurdle. Only thing I'm a bit nervous about is having to initially drop 10k in wages, but I know in the long run this is a much better career choice, and a better pension.

I never considered this. I hope so as I did well on the IST.

Alot of people will have the same AC score, so there must be another method to put them in some form of fair sequential order.

Yeah I’m the same, I did really high on the IST. I know there is a few of us with the exact same percentage so I’m wondering will they take into account of the IST score too.

How Many is there in here who received a grading of A/B ? would be good to see if there’s many in the category .

  • Registered Users Posts: 68 ✭✭reddriver

    I got A

  • Registered Users Posts: 297 ✭✭Si_zx10r

There probably isn't too many in here but that doesn't mean hundreds of people will haven't done so. I was graded a C myself, just happy to get through this time. I'm 34 and in another few years it may not be visable due to starting salary. I'm having to drop £10k in salary aswell but looking at the long term so fingers crossed things get moving over next few months 🤞

How does pay actually work, if you were to take on another role after probation?

So, say for example, after my probation I went to TSG or traffic branch. Does pay stay the same?

  • Registered Users Posts: 68 ✭✭reddriver

@Si_zx10r I'm the same as you I'm in my 30's now too so my next stage is my career for life hopefully! It's been a dream job since forever so hopefully so salary drop will be worth it for sure!

I would imagine the salary would change if you moved into a specialised role, traffic branch, dog handler, CID etc. You can go the other route aswell, sergeant, inspector etc etc. There's plenty of options but some of those roles don't come up to often such as traffic branch and you will have to compete for the role and do a/c at a higher level from what I believe...someone correct me if I'm wrong lol

I'm in the same boat but it would take a lot longer than a few years where I'm working now to get to where I could over the next 8 in the police force. My job is pretty dead end this is a career maybe not one you can boast about but one that you can take pride in

Yep, pretty much on the ball there. Specialist roles have different requirements such as exams, more advanced fitness tests and assessments (just depends on the role). Depending on the rank you’re going for, Promotion boards may have exams, interviews, assessments and presentations. I’m near sure detectives get an extra allowance once they are accredited but don’t quote me on that. Plenty of overtime to be made in some specialist roles though, especially specialist operations branch if you can get your way into them (need to be really fit though).

Hope they keep the tradition we’ve seen so far and email a day early! would be nice

I'm praying it's not a repeat of the education evidence uploaded where it's sent at like 6 on the day its meant to

You and me both mate. I’ll be refreshing emails from now until tomorrow night 😂

  • Registered Users Posts: 297 ✭✭Si_zx10r

I know I am gonna be near the bottom but will be interesting to see how many are on it this year lol

  • Registered Users Posts: 14 HassAuto

I don’t mind being closer to the bottom of the list.

Gives you more time to work out your affairs and more prep time for the PCA

Well done everyone on passing that's the hard part over, I'm currently in GV at the moment so any questions give me a message. I know the feeling of the wait but it will come as the last campaign was near two years and I know people from mine are still waiting. Good luck for the next stages

  • Registered Users Posts: 71 ✭✭Unknown117

I honestly could not tell you where I believe I will be positioned on the list. I want to say it isn’t a bad score but then also not an amazing one 😂 I’ll see in due course.

Im in the 2020 campaign and in the 700’s merit list spot, it’s good you guys are getting your merit list so soon after finishing them! We had to wait a year because of covid, it was agonising! The wait still isn’t over for some of us, I’ve been appointable since February and there’s no real sign of starting soon. It will come but just settle in for the long ride

  • Registered Users Posts: 248 ✭✭NeeNaw21

Nope. Specialisms do not change your salary except dog handlers who get an allowance but this is to support and care for the dog.

Your salary increases as per the 7 point scale.

A response Constable with 5 years service has the same basic salary as a detective constable with the same length of service.

When will trial days for the PCA be available? I take it you are offered them once you have a confirmed PCA date?

  • Registered Users Posts: 224 ✭✭Boneyard2002

Yeah, I believe it would be about a week before your actual PCA.
