Cube agree c62 has been delayed again. They can stick it up their jacksie now at this stage.

Have roughly 2k possibly more if i get my deposit back, sell my hunt carbons etc.

Does anyone have a bike in good condition they were considering selling please?

Could well be a 2015 model, purchased in 17 or 18.

Great bikes. Carbon Canyon endurance geometry frame and solid 105. What's not to like.

I went over a looked at it. It was amazing to cycle, very fast and comfortable. However, when i rocked the bike back and forward there was play in the headset and a slight knocking noise coming from it so i walked away from it. But i think it might be an easy fix? I dont know. I would love to buy it. Its better than my defy advanced 2 2020 that cost €2250.

i have a Bianchi Oltre XR3i that I bought while I was waiting for my new bike, (also a Cube C62).

Size 55 and a bike that I lusted after, but a tad small.

That’s a savage bike.

The loose headset is a concern though. If it’s been ridden like that over a long time, the fork may have developed the ring of death.

With that knowledge though, if I was negotiating for the bike, I’d be making an offer afew hundred shy of asking (and explaining why).

Best case, it’s a 5 minute job and all is well. Worst case, a new fork is required.

Guarantee you the Cube would be straight back up for sale if you ended up with both the Canyon and the Cube :-P

I might just chance it and buy it. I have my hunts sold for €700 and will still have money for the cube agree. I could sell either when the time comes but that canyon was something like ive never cycled before. It just flew along.

Cant believe how good the canyon was. Bikes they are making today are getting worse, more expensive, cheaper parts and 2 to 3kgs heavier.

I'd tend to agree on those rim braked carbon Canyon's from a few years ago - they were great value and you'd pay under 2k new for a bike not far off 7kg. You'd struggle to get close to 7kg for 5k these days with disc brakes

I had a look at that Canyon on Adverts.

Seller says it’s very lightly used. So chances are all is well and the headset just needs tightening up..

What is the spec of the Cube you've ordered? I went with the SRAM Rival. My local BS in Kilkenny got some into stock 2 weeks ago. He has another SRAM Rival in stock as well as the new Ultegra 12 speed.

I've never really been a fan of SRAM but am absolutely blown away by the performance of the Rival. The bike itself is really comfortable and nifty. The stock wheels are OK but do hold it back. I'll upgrade the wheels shortly. I'd have taken your Hunts, only saw the ad this evening!

FWIW I've had several Canyons, 1 Endurace and 2 Ultimate SLX. The Endurace was fine but a bit 'meh', whereas the Ultimates were smile inducing no matter what the weather. The quality of the frame was excellent too

If you want, ill keep you next in line if the guy doesnt buy them? He is supposed to be collecting them Monday. They've hardly been used. Im like the harley Davidson of cyclists, spend more time cleaning expensive shiny parts than cycling it.

I got the flash and white mechanical ultegra. Cancelled until end of aug possibly further. Its taking the piss getting a bike thats nearly a year old and a year late for the same price.

I might just get it and sell it straight away brand new. Lose a small couple of quid on it that will be soaked up by savings on the ctw scheme i got over half it on.

I bought it, collecting it saturday. It fitted me like a glove and was super fast and comfortable. The defy advanced 2 2020 i had was lovely and comfortable with d fuse technology front and back but the canyon despite being 5 years older to me is a better bike. I love the simplicity of older bikes. Lighter, easier to maintain, etc. Ive heard people rave about canyons before and i thought it was just hype but when i sat on that bike tonight, i now know what they were on about.

If there is anything majorly wrong with it, ill get it fixed. The bike has been in an attic for years, had dust on it and stickers still on it from new. It will be all good.

Ok, ive done a big of digging around. The headset bearings on these models give awful trouble, fail regularly and require constant maintenance particularly in wet weather countries like the uk and ireland. The headset bearings are hard to get and cost about 60 sterling. Might not be worth buying.

Any half decent local bike shop should be able to do a headset bearing replacement no problem, I wouldn’t sweat it too much.

If you can find the exact bearing specs you can get cheaper ones than the official canyon ones too.

I'd seriously work on the price if you're in any doubt and or get the lbs to give it a look over. Anybody selling something thats not fully functioning should be willing to take a big hit on it, otherwise they should get it fixed and in full working order first and then sell it.

Here is a video of why they are so difficult to fix. There is not even a standard top tube screw to tighten the front up. I might leave it. 950 is too much for a bike thats faulty.

Contacted cycle superstore there. They have the bearings in stock for that model so 70 to 100 to get bearings replaced. Im looking around for bikes and there is nothing but balls of shite for 600/700 quid so it might be worth just getting it and enjoying it.

Its not a straightforward system on the bike like a standard top screw. Had a look inside and cant see anything. Ill leave it into the shop. Savage bike and weighs 7.9 with peddles.

Why comment on it being not fully functional if you don't actually know?

Not familiar with the Accros ilock myself but I do have a USE Ring Go Star system from back in maybe 2004 which also doesn't have a top screw. It uses an expanding cone system. Based on the simulation video posted above by Squidgy Black this is a similar concept except it uses opposing ramps on two discs which are rotated relative to each other with the allen key which spreads them further apart vertcially when the ramps rise against each other. The stem is clamped first so when the discs expand vertically they push against the stem, thereby tightening the load on the bearings.
